There new company is called Obvious, I guess because from where they sit, the idea behind twitter. And what is that idea? And your running stream of consciousness comes out on your page (or rss etc):. Http:/ www.twitter.com/tshelton. Why should you care? Pay attention you old farts! This is where the youth are spending their time. This is the next evolutionary step bey...

IP Inferno: May 2005
http://ipinferno.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 21, 2005. Open Letter to George Lucas. Or, how IP will transform movie distribution. Despite the advanced technology that serves as a backdrop for your blockbuster Star Wars franchise, your movie distribution process is firmly stuck in the 20th century. According to a recent article in Forbes ("Special Report: Star Wars"). The Star Wars media empire has earned $20 billion since the original film in 1977. According to Forbes, here is the breakdown (inflation adjusted dollars):. After $20 bil...

IP Inferno: August 2004
http://ipinferno.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 23, 2004. BPL's Perfect Storm: VoWiFi. But I predict that this is all about to change. An opportunity too great to overlook that power companies are in a unique position to take advantage of is coming down the technology turnpike at breakneck speed - Voice over IP over WiFI. Why the roadway metaphor? Think about what the power companies have in addition to a line running into every home - a pole (with power) every few meters down every street. So what's holding up the power companies now?

IP Inferno: Broadband Data Improvement (S.1492)
http://ipinferno.blogspot.com/2007/05/broadband-data-improvement-s1492.html
Thursday, May 31, 2007. Broadband Data Improvement (S.1492). Ah, the boring but important department. What is your government doing for you? Passing pork barrel funding for rural telcos and failing to demand better data connectivity from the protected telecom monopolies that they have created. What, you ask, is this 1984? Back to the future! But what will be done to create incentives for the monopolists to have our country remain competitive with the rest of the world in broadband connectivity? Direct th...

IP Inferno: FCC and Inter-Carrier Compensation
http://ipinferno.blogspot.com/2007/03/fcc-and-inter-carrier-compensation.html
Tuesday, March 06, 2007. FCC and Inter-Carrier Compensation. In my mailbox this morning, some interesting thoughts on recent FCC rulings from the good folks at Womble Carlyle Sandridge and Rice. Here is a direct copy paste from their email:. 2 Limited Interconnection Rights. Although the order establishes an interconnection requirement under section 251(a), no interconnection finding is made under section 251(c). Under 251(c), competitors are entitled to interconnection: (i) at any technically fe...4 Act...

IP Inferno: March 2005
http://ipinferno.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2005. Full disclosure - if you missed it earlier, I have been working for Orb Networks. For the past few months. But I felt it was worth a post on IP Inferno to mention that the Orb Media product is now free, as TV is the next industry (after Voice) which will be entirely transformed by IP - and Orb is a good example of how this is happening. Posted by Ted Shelton at 12:20 PM. Wednesday, March 30, 2005. Brand X: The Wait. On Tuesday, the coverage of the Brand X case. From the Baltimor...

Journal of Post-Ralphaelite Thought: 05/01/2015 - 06/01/2015
http://postralphaelite.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 05, 2015. PaaS on the Cheap. PaaS stands for "Platform as a Service;" it's one of several classes of cloud computing services. Compare this to Iaas (Infrastructure as a Service), SaaS (Software as a Service), DBaas (Database as a Service) and CFaaS (cluster.well you get the idea). This list was thrown together quickly, mostly so I didn't have to bookmark all these and remember the details. I went over some of these when I wrote about cloud services in general. And now, in no particular order.

Journal of Post-Ralphaelite Thought: I was going to write something political...
http://postralphaelite.blogspot.com/2014/09/i-was-going-to-write-something-political.html
Monday, September 22, 2014. I was going to write something political. But then I saw this on my Google feed and thought about my old friend, The Whited Sepulchre, who loves weiner dogs. After watching it, I decided the world would be a better place if we all talked less about politics and did this instead. Enjoythere's time enough for arguing later. Posted by Dr Ralph.
