Charles Senteio: May 2006

Tuesday, May 30, 2006. A friend recently sent me a NYT article. On NY colleges who accepted students who didn’t have high school diploma or G.E.D. I do think there are more pressing issues around the ‘over-marketing’ of college vs. the marketing of developing sellable skills. I had a long conversation with a 20 year old kid last nite about career options. He takes classes at a local Dallas Community College but he, like many his age, doesn’t have a clear picture of what he wants to do. When 2nd Lt. J...

Saturday, January 20, 2007. Guatemala has a serious human rights issue, through a very nefarious network of lawyers and sanctioned operatives, babies are sold. The US is their most popular destination. Jim, Ken and I spent most of Saturday visiting Love the Child, Steve and Shyrel Osborne’s orphanage where 26 orphans live along with their 11 year old son Josh. They’re all family. For more pics go to my. Shipping (via couriers like American Airlines and Continental) back to the US. I did share with Shyrel...

Monday, February 27, 2006. This morning I read a story. Detailing accusations that doctors at Guantanamo Bay were taking part in practices that violated medical ethics. It seems as if they’re force feeding prisoners with nasal tubes to get them to eat. The military prison in Guantanamo Bay has always struck me as kinda strange. Sure Jack made it sound real exciting to be around it in A Few Good Men but in our ‘post-9/11 world’ the prison has taken on another image for me personally. Of the many articles ...

Sunday, April 30, 2006. House Calls Make Cents. Every Tuesday afternoon I have the privilege of hanging out with my buddy Jim Walton. During this time we enter the homes of very special people in need and I get to observe, and sometime participate in, the awesome responsibility of providing care to those among the most in need. This work is starting to get some attention. Last weekend the Dallas Morning News Business section carried a story. In fact since I’ve been working with Jim I believe only one has...

Charles Senteio: August 2006

Friday, August 25, 2006. Last nite I saw Miss Rae for the last time. Everyone said she looked peaceful in the casket and I guess I’d agree, I’ve never really seen a dead person that didn’t look ‘peaceful’. Anyway, Miss Rae wanted to be cremated so there was no trip to a cemetery. Just a good ole Baptist celebration of life. I had a great time there. She was that older trusted female confidant that I could share stuff with that I couldn’t talk about with my moms. Ya know. Over the past 7 years she was one...

Blogging at the Intersection of Faith and Sports. because two things I love to discuss are Jesus Christ and sports. Tuesday, March 23, 2010. When Colt McCoy's Dad Speaks.People Listen. So Brad spoke gave us four really solid points to ponder as we go through this week. It was one of the best speeches in Prayer Breakfast history and will bless you as well. These points are especially powerful for fathers to pay attention to:. 1 "Prepare your child for the path- NOT the path for your child.". 3 Be a Leader.
