After Hardship There is Ease: Egyptian Christmas Carol
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2014/11/egyptian-christmas-carol.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Thursday, December 25, 2014. I have directed a production of Dickens' A Christmas Carol in Egypt with middle school students. Last year was my second year at the school and I had a weekly theatre club which went very well. Mostly, we did improv but I started to bring in scripted scenes and even an adaptation I had written of a Winnie the Pooh scene. That scene had gone so well that I started to wonder if a full show could be performed. After five weeks of school, we had a we...

After Hardship There is Ease: 10 of the Best Nasheeds
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2013/10/10-of-best-nasheeds.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Monday, October 14, 2013. 10 of the Best Nasheeds. On this Day of Arafat, I'd like to share some of my favorite nasheeds. These are songs to help us remember Allah. Anytime is a good time to remember Allah. 1 A is for Allah. In 1983. "A is for Allah," is an English alphabet song which teaches the meaning of many Arabic words and Islamic concepts. However, don't overlook this song as something only for children. No matter your age, you will enjoy its simple beauty. Though thi...

After Hardship There is Ease: Finding My Direction
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2008/08/finding-my-direction.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Friday, August 8, 2008. I might not be going to Saudi. Today, I applied for my old job in town. I felt I had to. I'm not really good at waiting and it's actually been all of May, June, and July that I've waited for my visa. I don't fully trust the process. They screwed up and I am left waiting at my mom's without a job. Ramadan is coming and I don't want to be here. You're just like the little girl I babysit; always has to be the center of attention.". I needed some truth.

After Hardship There is Ease: The Little Brother
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2011/06/little-brother.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Friday, June 17, 2011. These very sweet children (mashahallah) are not the actual kids in this post. Today is a bright, breezy day in Egypt. I've eaten birthday cake for breakfast. I've laughed and played and enjoyed a relaxing start to my Friday. Alhumdulillah. While I know I have to start packing for my trip to America, I'm going to be sharing a story with you first. May Allah forgive me for any time I could have done better. May Allah protect them all. I do love teaching.

http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2011/09/attack.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Saturday, September 17, 2011. Crabs in a Bucket. This is why I falter in my Islam:. Http:/ forums.islamicawakening.com/f20/should-we-stop-building-new-masajid-west-50541/index10.html. My blog gets mentioned by a sister who was trying to prove a point about making hijrah. She referenced me and another one. Normally, I would feel a kind of happiness that a sister found what I wrote to be worth passing on to others. There is nothing helpful or practical in regards to Hijrah fro...

After Hardship There is Ease: Musa Cerantonio
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2012/03/musa-cerantonio.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Thursday, March 15, 2012. My time working on a TV show in 2012 led to me crossing paths with Brother Musa Cerantonio. We never met in person. He saw my audition and we later emailed. After this blog posting, I never corresponded with him again. Imagine my surprise this May when I learned that he was arrested for trying to sail from Australia to Indonesia in order to fight in an Islamic jihad. Here is the story from The Guardian. And from The Daily Mail. Al-Hamdulillah I am h...

After Hardship There is Ease: Making Guava Juice
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2011/10/making-guava-juice.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. When I first came to Egypt, I tasted fresh guava juice for the first time. It was immediately refreshing. The taste was neither too sweet nor too abrasive. It was this smooth soother. With milk it was incredible. So, making guava juice was one of my first kitchen catastrophes over here. I was determined! Then, this week, my son was sick with a cough. I wanted him to drink more and flush out that yuck from his system. I had guavas in the r...Now y...

After Hardship There is Ease: Not Muslim
http://afterhardship.blogspot.com/2015/03/not-muslim.html
After Hardship There is Ease. Friday, March 20, 2015. All of us destroy that which we should treasure. All of us are guilty of being less than we could be. It's easy to judge that someone else. Is making bigger mistakes than we are. It feels good for our ego to know that someone else is making our own wrongs pale by comparison. Maybe then we don't have to work so hard since others have fallen so wide off the mark. Yet, when we judge others' level of faith, we are wrong and guilty of shirk. Being a believ...

After Hardship There is Ease. Friday, May 22, 2015. My Neighborhood of Nazlet Samaan. After praying fajr, my husband and I both read until the sun shone brighter, and then he said to me, "Do you want to go for a walk? I do like to go for quiet walks in our neighborhood. Here are pictures. Of another time we went. El-Kid was still sleeping off a busy week at school, so I left him a note: "We went out for a walk. Be back soon! It was so early out on the streets that there were more animals than people.
