Learning to Love: June 2013
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Friday, June 21, 2013. Giving Up the Race. I have recently found a new hero. She is around my age, blonde, very girly, a college student, and a former dancer. Rebecca Houseknecht was one of the several dancers featured in the recent ballet documentary,. Before I even watched the 90 minute film yesterday, I knew (from my excellent skills on the internet) who she was and why I liked her. And an article from the Baltimore Sun. Learning to Love: February 2014
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Thursday, February 27, 2014. I have talked with many (and I myself am guilty of such a crime) who shove emotions down- deep down. Emotions.who has time for that? As a full time senior-level social work student at GMU, graduate school candidate, intern with the City of Alexandria, part-time ballet instructor, full time church member and lay-leader, I certainly ain't got time for emotions! Honest and admit that I need to blog more than I need to write this paper.

Learning to Love: April 2013
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Thursday, April 4, 2013. Questions and My Answers. I want to focus my post not so much on the speech I prepared, but the questions I answered. Several patients asked questions with the "Is it really possible? Are you really recovered? Astounding. I do no discredit the need for research for Autism or Alzheimer's, but I can't help but feel a little dismal when I hear that eating disorders are not given the same amount of attention, funding, or impact. Picture Window...

Learning to Love: December 2013
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. While Dreams of Sugar Plums Danced in Their Heads. Every year I perform the Nutcracker, I have a very different experience. No two Nutcrackers are the same. It's taken a lot- both from within and from outside support. I wouldn't trade these experiences for anything. Not even a chance to dance with a top-notch company, for dreams are actualized in the humblest of circumstances. Thursday, December 5, 2013. We, as spirit children of a Ki...

Learning to Love: Change is What I Know
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2014/05/change-is-what-i-know.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Thursday, May 1, 2014. Change is What I Know. I was encouraged this past Sunday to blog again by a beautiful woman in my local church congregation. She is strong and passionate. I don't know much about her, but her story of conversion from Islam to being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me greater insight into my own faith. So Bilo, this one's for you. ;). Come What May and Love It. May 1, 2014 at 12:28 PM. I am a social work m...

Learning to Love: January 2014
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Thursday, January 9, 2014. Remember playing "cry uncle" as a kid? I do If you have brothers, you most likely know this game very well. In essence, the first person to "cry uncle" while enduring a physical form of pain, loses. So, when it is acceptable to cry uncle? When you're about to lose an appendage? How about when you are holding back tears? What if everything around you is falling to pieces? I've begun to realize that he did not do this to me. I let him.

Learning to Love: May 2013
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Wednesday, May 22, 2013. How can it be so easy to miss the little smiles in life? It eats at you like no other. It's not the applause or even the compliments; it's the growth of self-efficacy and self-esteem in those I teach and mentor for which I live. Ultimately, life doesn't matter about you. Life matters about those you help along the way. Gordon B. Hinckley said it best:. My loving and caring man, Mark, does this for me. He sacrificed of himself and his f...

Learning to Love: September 2013
http://mackenziewaters.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Yourself, Life, and All the In-Betweens. Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Some days are Katy Perry days. Others are the Fray days. Today is the latter. I received unexpected grief for my last post. I am sorry for those I unintentionally hurt, but at the same time, I do not revoke any of the emotions that I expressed in my post(s). Is it fair that I can't have my closest friends and family (90% of whom are on the other side of the country) peek inside my heart, soul, and mind? In my social work class on tra...
