Many teachers in Belize struggle to do their best despite a lack of classroom resources and a lack of training. In the rural primary schools it is not unusual for many of the teachers to have only a high school education. Although the government recognizes this as a problem and is working to address it, the fact remains that many rural teachers have limited formal training as educators.
