James and the Giant Bike Ride: December 2008

http://jamesgiantbikeride.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

James and the Giant Bike Ride. Read the blogs of my 17,200 mile cycle adventure around the world. Wednesday, 3 December 2008. 4000 - 4500 miles: Esfehan to Lahore. As we cycled through the fumes and melee of Esfehan traffic an Iranian pulled alongside on a motorbike and began a conversation, the usual questions: where were we from? Where were we going? Was that my wife? After two days we reached Na'in and were taken in by two students who advised us against staying in the tawdry place we were looking at ...

http://jamesgiantbikeride.blogspot.com/2010/07/13200-15000-miles-la-barra-to-new.html

James and the Giant Bike Ride. Read the blogs of my 17,200 mile cycle adventure around the world. Friday, 9 July 2010. 13,200 - 15,000 miles: La Barra to New Orleans. Pop stop at the beach on way to Veracruz,. We made landfall for the night at an "eco camp" near the village of La Mancha. The only eco thing about it seemed to be the hugely successful mosquito breeding programme in the thatched roof bathrooms. The wind was still blowing the next morning so we spent the day wandering the scenic beac...We ma...

James and the Giant Bike Ride: January 2010

http://jamesgiantbikeride.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

James and the Giant Bike Ride. Read the blogs of my 17,200 mile cycle adventure around the world. Monday, 4 January 2010. 11,000 - 12,000 miles: Shanghai to Shimonoseki (Japan). Cycling has the ability to reduce you to a cultural moron and we seemed to spend most of our time in Shanghai shopping for winter clothes, an activity given greater impetus by a biting wind from Siberia that had arrived out of nowhere. The pound was plumbing new depths and had halved in value against the yen in two years. For...

Originally uploaded by james littlewood. 500 - 1800 miles: Strasbourg to Belgrade. After our rest at Fred's we set out across the flat river plain of the Rhine, our route taking us past the European Parliament in Strasbourg and over the Rhine itself into Germany. James and the Giant Bike Ride: August 2010

James and the Giant Bike Ride. Read the blogs of my 17,200 mile cycle adventure around the world. Monday, 16 August 2010. 17,000 - 17,200 miles: New York to London. As we slipped our moorings on a sunny afternoon we sipped champagne amongst the crowds on the upper decks and watched the slowly receding view of New York harbour, the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn docks. We passed under the Verrazzano Bridge and as Long Island receded into the distance we cruised out into the Atlantic Ocean. Luxury, relaxat...

Der Weg ist das Ziel: Juli 2009

http://weltreise-aje-der-weg-ist-das-ziel.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Sonntag, 12. Juli 2009. For our English-speaking friends - Australia in a nutshell. Completely exhausted from organising the shipping of the bikes we enter the fifth continent on 30th May. Since we have been here in 1995, Darwin has changed a lot. And not only for the good! It´s high season and we can hardly find rooms, let alone reasonable prices! Are we getting old? Clearing the bikes and MOT. We say good-bye to Björn, who has plans for an alternative route, and leave Darwin on the Stuart Highway.

Dienstag, 30. Juni 2009. Dig in, mate! Unsere letzten Abende im Outback. Am letzten Fahrtag ist es so kalt, dass wir glei...

Around the world in 80 punctures: November 2009

http://aroundtheworldin80punctures.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Around the world in 80 punctures. Monday, 9 November 2009. China is under construction. Right up there as one of the worlds perkiest hello's). China is indeed under construction at a level that would be difficult to comprehend had we not just ridden through it, over it and under it for months. I've had it in my eye's, my nose, my mouth, my lungs and (at the risk of sounding like a school teacher on the edge) up-to-here! Say it with flowers. However, the colour of lowland China is mostly, sadly, grey.

Mittwoch, 25. Februar 2009.

Montag, 29. Dezember 2008. For our English-speaking friends - Travelling Rajasthan. After visiting New Delhi and trying to digest our first shocking impressions of the Indian way of life, we start our trip around Rajasthan. We begin with the famous "Taj Mahal", a beautiful and enormous building in the loveley setting of well kept green gardens, and the "Red Fort", where Elmar and Annette spend more time than necessary, because they don't want to get back to the reality outside. You find cows, pigs, dogs,...
