My thoughts went something like this, from Sandys objects on a line to things hanging, like a clothesline to trees to leaves hanging on a branch = line. The result are the leaves - made from a bit of Wool Top being stitched over with Varigated thread. (Note: the idea came from The Thread Studio. S kit A Trio of Aussie Leaves. And have also made some more of the green gum leaves. I think these would make great bookmarks (as requested by my children) or in other pieces of art. This Year I made a commitment to more painting, on the whole that definitely happened and for me some new directions were explored. I experimented with oils, and took a class in portraiture. Hard to do, as I had to keep reminding myself that I was aiming for a likeness, not a photographic copy of the photo I used. Gazes and details added.

Sometimes paintings come easily, the paint flows, you are in the zone. Sometimes there are parts of a painting you love, and others, no matter how many times you try, you just cant get something right.
