Jasonmelendy's Jaw surgery Blog. September 20, 2013. Post op day 82. This past Wednesday I had my last appt with my surgeon Dr Bast at UCSF. Appt literally lasted 10 minutes and was mostly filled with me expressing how grateful I was for having the surgery, thanking Dr Bast and his team of excellent students and doctors. He was extremely happy with my bite and thought my teeth looked great. I’m in count down mode. I hope everyone’s healing is going good. This entry was posted in Post operaton updates.

Jasonmelendy's Jaw surgery Blog. Monthly Archives: October 2013. October 10, 2013. Post op 3 months and 1week. Yesterday I had another orthodontics appointment. It went great. I asked my Dr if he felt I was ready to have these braces removed. He said Yes! So next month on November 13 th I’m free! My teeth feel and look great. I’m so thankful I had the surgery! I would do the whole thing over again if I had to. No regrets! Have a great day and I’ll send pictures next month after my appointment.

My doc blessed me with a return to work slip so I’m probably going to start slow on Sunday evening or Monday. My swelling is very minimal if any. Here’s some pics of my current look. If the total recovery period for double jaw surgery is one year, then this whole process, from start (braces) to finish (one year post-op) has taken 1 year, 8 months and 11 days. Here’s a list of the supplies that really helped me at the hospital and during my recovery at home. I recommend transferring some of these products to travel-sized bottles (I bought some from the dollar store). That way when you get home from the hospital, you can put your supplies on a tray that you can carry to and from your bedroom.
