Fire at Winner Farm. A little bit about me. Fire at Winner Farm. This story was originally published in the Courier Post newspaper on July 17, 2003. I was a green cops reporter at the time, and I didn’t know enough about journalism to know barn fire on the breaking news pager wasn’t a story. I’d like to think I went out to the scene because of some natural intuition but it was probably a slow news day and I counted bylines back then. I still go back and read it from time to time, when I think lose focus.
