Friday, 9 November 2007. The Move to Colombia. So, remind me what was the reason for going to Colombia? Shame the paddles got lost in transport. Just a bit tired. Oh yes, let's remember to pack some teaching resources with the kayak kit. The last supper. Oh divine intervention, please! On the way out the door. Sadness, delirious exhaustion, hopes and anticipation. Crazy? No, just 'muy loco'. Polo sold with 30 minutes to go before leaving. Will that cheque bounce? The first supper in our first Bogota home.

Friday, 9 November 2007. Bogota, well it's not Yorkshire. First morning, after flights and 4 hours sleep, off to the school for graduation. Fantastic start. First morning, Dilek's new class empty and waiting for the kids (and just a few huge freight boxes of teaching resources). First night, invited to a Colombian party. What a day! Well it's not Carleton! The weather's the same anyway. First few days, using the transmileno trams. The north near where we live. Bogota Old town, Candalaria.

Friday, 30 November 2007. San Gil and paddling the Mogotico. Setting out for the Mogotico creek in the San Gil region, 7 hours north of Bogota. Set off to walk to put in with Cesar, who runs a local rafting company. The put in - easy grade 2-3 for a couple of km. Good tecnical grade 3 to 4 creeking. The end of quite a continuous grade 3 grade 4 section where you need to make a couple of last eddies before a must make portage. A compulsory portage with several hundred meters of grade 5-6 then follow.
