kitchen shopping | the jellypost
https://jellypost.wordpress.com/2009/08/14/kitchen-shopping
This old house becomes this new house. What is a jellypost? August 14, 2009. Exterior of Jenn-Air fridge. Then to a design studio in Chevy Chase. The lady there was nice and we learned a lot, saw countertop and cabinet samples, gathered brochures. I’ve been reading piles of books and magazines, and am blown away by today’s cabinetry! Everything in our home is from the 50’s, so it’s like a whole new world for us! I liked the Jenn-Air dishwasher and ovens too, so I will show them to BF and cross my fingers.

This old house becomes this new house. What is a jellypost? Two years, three banks, and 4 (or 40) gray hairs later . . . August 20, 2011. We had hoped to begin construction by the end of 2009 but, as tends to happen in construction, things took a lot longer than we hoped they would. This post will cover everything that happened between August, 2009 and June, 2011. Subsequent posts will catch up to the present, and then we will proceed from there. CC then asked us if we had our building permit yet. Wh...
goodbye, old friend | the jellypost
https://jellypost.wordpress.com/2011/08/23/goodbye-old-friend
This old house becomes this new house. What is a jellypost? Goodbye, old friend. August 23, 2011. On May 13, 2011 we demolished our beloved old house to make way for our beautiful new one. The night before, I visited the site on the way home from work to say goodbye. I cracked open a beer and drank a toast to my childhood home while watching the sun set over its roof for the last time. There may or may not have been a few tears shed. Thanks, old friend, for everything. I’ll never forget you. Last year th...

This old house becomes this new house. What is a jellypost? September 27, 2011. Windows are big deal. People love to have lots of them, but they require big holes in your walls, and so you must plug up those holes with quality stuff. In an ideal world, you can afford quality stuff that does a good job of plugging AND enhancing the look of your home. Windows on rear of house, game room on left, library on right. The home’s exterior walls will have white/off-white Hardi-board with brown/dark-brown wo...

Last year they sold out before I got to VC, so I wanted to make sure I got one for my 84-year old Caps fan Mom this yr! Looking for a link to purchase the 2017 Canine Calendar online; I don't see it on the website. Can you help? Library staff visited @ dcpl. Today to check out their Digital Commons. http:/ t.co/09FwQ4aYgY. Blog at WordPress.com.

From a Library Cubicle. In which a Library Associate learns about Web 2.0 and writes about it. Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Exploration 4: RSS Feeds, Readers and Keeping Track of Web 2.0. Well, I used to use Bloglines about 4 years ago when I started knitting again. There were all of these knitters who blogged, and I thought it would be great if I could just check all of their blogs all in one place! But fear not, this story is not ALL darkness and gloom! And I can see how they could be really useful to o...

Oh boy, here I am writing a document in Zoho! Some seem to be easier to use than others. I think 2.5 lines is a paragraph, don't you? Thanks for mentio...

Other libraries have maintained blogs to keep their patrons updated about new releases, programs, and other library happenings, and ultimately that might be nice for AACPL to try, but the issue of staff time and resources always rears its ugly head. I think Twitter and RSS might be better options for that (but those are other explorations!

Of course, I will undoubtedly never get around to reading everything on that list (which stands at 137 books at this point- doh! But it's nice knowing it's there. I certainly hope that Goodreads sticks around for a while. That's the downside of using online sites to keep track of things- what if they shut down? See you on Goodreads. Whats Next and .

From a Library Cubicle. In which a Library Associate learns about Web 2.0 and writes about it. Friday, August 21, 2009. So, wikis. The big one, Wikipedia, I use all the time. Not as a definitive source, but a jumping-off point, a place to gather "facts" that I can confirm using more reliable sources. I find it to be extremely useful for library work and my own personal edification. I also enjoy some of the specialty wikis, such as the Battlestar. Wiki (for the show Battlestar Galactica) and Memory Alpha.
