Here is the first of an intended trio of heavily sandblasted Douglas Fir hollow forms with the soft grain completely removed around the top area, which hopefully gives the impression of being eroded away by wind and sand. These seem to be becoming a series. This one is five and a half inches tall, it has been shotblasted to give an uneven surface on the panels and then textured over the top of that. I then made another jig for the router so the deck holes could be cut out, here you can see them cut out and edged. I have also cut some bearers in at 63mm plus the 19mm for the top, this makes 82mm, so the decks will come flush with the top. You can see the mixer pedestal below. And with both curved corners on. First off the stock is cut to size, then marked out to where they are going. I'm using European Ash for all of my drawers for this project. A cabinet makers Journey. Friday, 24 June 2011. Small bookcase and window seat. This pair are pretty much finished, bit more to do on the window seat, and just a couple of coats of hard wax oil. Next time you see them they will be fitted, and I will update then. No wip pic's, as they are pretty straightforward. Wall hung book shelves in European ash, cornice/crown moulding looks huge, but is going about 8' up so needs to be large. Shelves are adjustable, just on simple posts. Corner detail on bottom shelf.

A cabinet makers Journey. Wednesday, 11 January 2012. Brown Oak Coffee Table Finished. OK where were we, thats right, Resin. Mix 5-1 and pour. I stood over this and burst the air bubbles when they appeared, then re-poured to fill the voids to excess. Wait 24hrs and then sand, starting with 40g Brilliant. Then up to 240g Granat. So I set about cleaning it up and removing all the rust prior to painting.
