My mother recognized early on in my life that I liked to draw and paint, so she encouraged me to spend every Saturday from about the age of 8 at the Washington County Museum of Art in Hagerstown, Maryland. I took Casin and Oil Painting classes. Later, I went on to VCU, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, and completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking in 1973.
