Journeys with Johnny

Thursday, July 23, 2009. Proud to be an American. Fourth of July in DC is always an exciting experience (except dealing with the masses of tourists who converge on the city). You've got the excitement of being in the capital on America's birthday, you have the parades, and, most importantly, you have the fireworks. What could be bad about that? Here are some pics from the day:. Benny and I claiming our spot. Great view of the Washington at night. Happy birthday, America! But of course, I can't think of t...

Journeys with Johnny: June 2009

http://www.journeyswithjohnny.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Wednesday, June 17, 2009. I'm still a rock star. It's been awhile since the last update, so I probs should give you all an idea of what's going on here in DC. I've been working on meeting legislators as well.  Last week I ran into Sen. John Ensign, who I worked for last summer.  I reminded him that I worked for him last summer at the NRSC and we had a brief chat.  Clearly he remembered me. If you look closely, you can see the name tag coming off me and sticking to her. Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Ben and I...

Journeys with Johnny: But that was when I ruled the world

Friday, July 25, 2008. But that was when I ruled the world. So now let me explain this exhibit in the atrium. Senator Patrick Leahy is the senior Senator from Vermont and Chairman of the Senatre Judicary Committee (he also has a cameo in The Dark Knight ,. Would they have fired me from my unpaid, non-Senate job? Would they have escorted me out of this public building? After this pic, I went around the room again looking at more pics. Ran into Debbie Stabenow and did the whole "Do you remember me? Include...

Journeys with Johnny: August 2008

http://www.journeyswithjohnny.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 9, 2008. My apologies for not posting for awhile; I've been on vacation with the fam for the past week. For those who have been waiting, here are the highlights from my final week in the District:. The Senate Republicans had their weekly policy lunch at our building on Tuesday, with one special guest present…Vice President Dick Cheney. It was a pretty sweet sight. We also looked to see which Senators were arriving…typical celebrity stalking. Every time someone left the building this medi...

To seek is to hope, and to hope urgently, insistently, with certainty, is to have all the faith we need in order to survive whatever lies ahead. Monday, April 6, 2009. To seek is to hope, and to hope urgently, insistently, with certainty, is to have all the faith we need in order to survive whatever lies ahead. Thursday, October 14, 2010. My friend am was in town this weekend and found it amusing to refer to me as "Legally Liza" every time he had the opportunity. The truth is, I've completed only half a semester of law school and I still feel like maybe I am here illegally. Pretty soon ICE is going to come and deport me back to undergrad. While this works as a research topic, it still fails to answer the question, So what? Why do we care? And the problem is, I really don't have an answer for that. It's the same question I've been struggling with since I got started on the paper. I think the problem with this could be that I didn't choose my topic. It's always depressing...

And yes she played it rough. Made her feel safe and it made her feel tough. And rock by rock she built those walls everyday. Built herself a tower so far. And from up high in that castle. She knew no one. Could get too close to touch. And if life and death were such a game. Why did they all make such a fuss?

Tuesday, January 17, 2012. A Perfect Day in Pasadena. Yesterday, after a long morning of applying to jobs, I decided to shoot over to Pasadena. It's only about a 40-minute drive from Long Beach, and I was eager to explore another new area. I intended on seeing Old Town Pasadena, but I have to admit, I was more excited about scoping out two filming locations from the iconic '90s series, "Beverly Hills, 90210." :). And so I did. And oh, my God, there it was! I knew it was around here somewhere," he said.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012. 15th Annual Desert Storm - April 24th-27th, 2012. This is the time of year when the REALLY, REALLY big boats come to town. A one year old's view of his world. Friday, April 3, 2009. I have a great sense of humor and I love to make jokes. Here are some of my recent ones. I was helping my mom clean my room the other day and we were picking my books up off the floor and stacking them onto the ottoman by my rocking chair. We stacked them all very neatly and then I got behind the ottoman, looked at my mommy with a twinkle in my eye and said, "Ready? I'm sure she appreciates my help. I make my parents laugh every day.
