Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Sunday 26 April 2015. TOO MANY CHOICES DRIVE THIS SIMPLE MAN SLIGHTLY CRAZY! Thanks to http:/ humanitymedia.net/. 8220;I’m off to the shop lads. Want anything? 8220;What’re you getting? 8220;Tea, milk and something to munch on.”. 8220;Oh, okay, I’ll have something hot. One of those chicken baguettes.”. 8220;Sound, see you in a bit.”. While there can be some ugly and aggressive beasts prowling the aisles of the ...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: July 2015
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Monday 27 July 2015. Yes, I actually want what I ordered from you! Why was it so difficult? With Blue Bag sitting snug on Bennett’s back seat, I jump into my car and drive off. It’s 7:10 on Saturday morning. Yahoo! That time of year again, when the World visits Galway and I feel a strong desire to leave. So as that cries “No! You are going the wrong way, you fool! 8221; from my substantial gut, I do as advised ...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: June 2015
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Monday 29 June 2015. Why don't I feel the same sorrow as everyone else? As the Irish people collectively suffer and grieve through what has become this country’s ‘Lady Diana’ moment, I wonder - not for the first time - what’s the matter with me. If you find yourself feeling different emotions to everyone else and give half a damn about being a reasonable human being, you have to ask:. It’s exactly the sam...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: November 2014
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Friday 21 November 2014. DEATH VISITS THREE TIMES, THE LAST A FRIEND AND GOOD MAN! We are a fantastic species. For millennia we saw comets in the sky as messages from gods, omens of defeat and disease, yet now we have landed on one. A tiny craft made here travelled 300 million miles through the void, hit the bullseye and then plonked itself down on the comet’s surface. Tragically it didn’t work out, so wh...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: February 2015
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Monday 23 February 2015. Do we now exist only to serve the constitution and support the economy? Don’t get me wrong: I’m very grateful to have the freedom to write this; to have my complaints about the government and the ills of western society published in a newspaper and then go to bed, without fear of police coming to take me away in the night. 8220;You’ll grow out of it! These days I know why things happen ...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: May 2015

Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Saturday 30 May 2015. Meanwhile, nature's doing fine. Saw last year how the Virginia Stock self-seeded from containers on the driveway, so I sowed them last Autumn straight into the gravel. You go away for 10 days and nature gets on with its business. This California poppy was the first to flower, self-seeded and fertlized by a very attractive cigarette butt, by the looks of things. Plants just want to grow.

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: August 2015
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Monday 31 August 2015. Sad confessions of an eccentric marmalade eater! I have a confession to make. Last week in this colyoom I was fluffing my feathers and strutting my liberal stuff all Right On Man and Hey Dude style about how material goods meant nothing to me; how all I needed was time, peace and meadowsweet. Yep, you read that right. The orangey spread you put on your toast. I hadn’t and didn’...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: THE ONLY THING I CAUGHT FISHING WAS MY OWN NIPPLE!
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-only-thing-i-caught-fishing-was-my.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Monday 20 July 2015. THE ONLY THING I CAUGHT FISHING WAS MY OWN NIPPLE! One of two 13lb salmon I managed to entice from the Pacific Ocean,. Thanks wholly to the skill and guidance of my friend. It has to be said that I am a spectacularly bad fisherman, which is a great shame. As a pastime it would suit me down to the ground, as that’s where I like to be: on the ground. 8211; no, it was worse than that. Great Lo...

Charlie Adley's Double Vision: March 2015
http://doubledoublevision.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Charlie Adley's Double Vision. From the pages of the Galway City Tribune and Connacht Tribune. Sunday 29 March 2015. For two glorious days the gate stayed shut! Last year it looked like this - this year there'll be more yellow! While the Snapper walks Lady Dog I start on the weeding. These days it’s not enough to plan the tasks ahead, I also have to factor in what my ageing body might sustain. So instead of going hell bent for leather and weeding the whole bed in one go, I stop half way, st...This place ...
