Julia's Travels: May 2010

http://juliaworldtravel.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 28, 2010. In transit: 3 days, 3 continents and luggage drama at Heathrow. It took us 3 days to get to Cape Town. First we flew from Oregon to London, had a 36 hour layover and then continued on to Cape Town direct from London. That’s when things stopped going so smoothly, and all hell broke loose. To add some context to the story, take a close look at the following photo taken at PDX:. From Pre-africa departure (CA and OR). Uh-oh So we just need to pay a moderate extra baggage charge, right?

Tuesday, September 21, 2010. From Cape Maclear, we continued south to the city of Zomba. Zomba wasn’t originally on our itinerary, but Chris and I have heard so many travelers rave about the hiking in Malawi, that we figured a few days of fresh air might be pretty nice. Friday, October 26, 2007. Bangkok.back to Thailand, baby. Of my travel photos) contracted a virus that made it look like my pictures had been erased. Everything turned out ok, but not before I had a mini-meltdown at the internet cafe. I think I would rather lose my passport than lose all of my photos from traveling. Though it would be a huge inconvenience, my passport, at least, could be replaced. Of the sights on this particular visit. A lizard chilling out in Lumpini park, Bangkok. While in the area, w...

Personal and professional musings of a person in Springfield, Illinois. Sometimes I'm just expressing some opinions about current events. Sometimes I'm remembering things in my life. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. A response to a gay Baha'i. If there was no persecution and discrimination against homosexuality, people's sexual orientation would be, for me, of about the same importance as people's orientation toward enjoying a game of chess. And may still be there. A few points to consider:. Homosexuality and ...

Thursday, June 6, 2013. The first time I ever fainted was two Thursdays ago. It was the evening if the last day of school, on 'ay 23. I can't imagine being able to teach with my symptoms that followed. This is one of many ways that I felt watched over because of impeccable timing. Monday morning, urgent care called and told me to go to the ER right away. They said I had profound anemia, my hemoglobin was too low, and I'll probably need a blood transfusion. This call was not what I expected! I woke up my ...
