Nach Deutschland: It's Not Easy Being Mean

Monday, November 06, 2006. It's Not Easy Being Mean. A German friend sent me an e-mail the other day asking me if I’d gotten used to the German Unfriendliness yet:. Wow, you Americans are always so. We Germans do not fuss about being very nice when we want to bring. Across a message, we just say it and that's the way it is. Besides, we. Like to be a bit nasty sometimes (or at least, me and my friends do like. To) which is meant to be funny. I guess I’m generally a pretty nice person ( too. Do all this wh...

Monday, September 25, 2006. Have you been wondering what ever happened to the Polish guy who won the fencing world championship back in the late seventies? Wonder no more, he is (well, he was) one of my housemates. A new gym has just opened in Minden and former Polish fencing champion is here to do personal training and teach fencing to small children. Americans eat strange things.). Then one day, I heard the landlord banging on his door, and later on, like Kaiser Sose, he was gone. The story? One of my ...

Saturday, November 25, 2006. Ever since I read Adrienne Rich’s "Paula Becker to Clara Westhoff". A few years ago I've been interested in the artist Paula Becker-Modersohn. So it seemed like a good idea to take the bus from Bremen out to Worpswede, the tiny artists’ colony where she lived for a while and is now buried. And the 55m-tall Weyerberg sand dune. At its heart provided the inspiration for Fritz Mackenson, Otto Modersohn [etc., etc.] the members of the original 1889 colony. Posted by Juli @ 5:25 AM.

So, yes, I am in Germany! It#s all going well so far, except that I grossly underestimated how difficult it#d be finding a room. everywhere appears to be heaving! It#s only around the corner from here so I#m gonna have a look around before it gets dark. Hope everyone is well! September 25th, 2008 04:03 pm (UTC).

Internet woes - Sometimes I write my thoughts down (Mk II). Run From Kelvins Brainsplurge! July 15th, 2008. 11:25 am - Internet woes. So a few weeks back, our flat got broken into and my laptop (among other things) got nicked. Last Wednesday it was finally time for our replacements to arrive and I spent a very pleasant morning of pottering around the flat watching shite daytime TV, tidying up and whatnot, and an afternoon of greedily opening boxes and chucking polystyrene packaging around. Whoop! I've di...

Sometimes I write my thoughts down (Mk II). Run From Kelvins Brainsplurge! April 28th, 2008. 08:36 pm - Stormy sunset! I like my flat sometimes. It's on the first floor, on the outside of a bend in the road, and looks vaguely west. So every now and again, you're treated to views like this. Evening all! PS I'm not so keen on my internet though; it keeps cutting off the radio. Get a grip, internet! April 28th, 2008 08:03 pm (UTC). Your flat is the lovely. All internet, however, is the pesky. Thursday, November 10, 2005. Well now. wanted to mention a few things here. My fellow film fanatic from Davis, Liam Creighton, ( his blog here. And I just finished a 2-day shoot in San Fran at a conference for Camp Niche. Now it's on to editing. When complete I will be sure to post a link here. It will be fun (that is my hope). I have received several requests for Frank DVD screeners! Just the promotional screener. And I have to get a new LCD screen. My main monitor bit the dust - after 7 years! Posted b...

Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Hooray for Pennsylvania and getting to spend some time out of the car! T and I might have gone a little overboard: we went hiking three times. Here’s a picture of me in Philadelphia at Valley Green, which is one of my top five places of all time. We also hiked to Flat Rock at Colonel Denning State Park in central Pennsylvania: a steep, but pretty, hike. Here’s a hazy picture of the view from the top, in case you’re curious but don’t want to trek up there. Although Ohio is appa...
