Expat Eye on Latvia. A cold look at living and working in the Baltics. The Russian does Riga. I’m in a book! Expat has left the building. September 9, 2014. My ‘kitchen’ is going with me…. With regard to the former, it’s been… I’m not sure I. Cram the last four years of my life into a pithy paragraph. It’s been pretty much every adjective you can think of, and then some. And the emotional outpouring? Linda closed the door decisively and strode across her courtyard for the last time. So, before this becom...

I Thought You Were Chinese. What It’s Like Being a Foreign University Student. October 1, 2014. October 1, 2014. Now that summer is officially over, I find myself back in the same place as university students all over the world – the classroom. The two textbooks I’m going through this semester. Though I don’t regret taking the unconventiona...
