Father's Day - Sincerely, Callie
http://www.sincerelycallie.com/blog/fathers-day
I am a self-proclaimed pack rat. Even though my dad collects more letters and books and photos than I could imagine, he only keeps the beautiful, the necessary, the worthwhile. He is slowly teaching me that it's not about the amount of money you make, the clothes in your closet, or the car you drive. It's not about you at all. It's about Jesus, it's about family, it's about living a life full of dreams and heartache and laughter and friendship. Welcome everybody into your family with open arms. He is gen...

God and the World. 112) It's difficult to understand at first, but bear with me. We discussed the two different accounts of creation in Genesis: the first chapter is the grand unfolding of God's immensity. The account is organized rationally, and God is above all, looking down and speaking creation into existence. The second chapter is told differently:. God formed the man of AB. Dust from the ground and AC. Breathed into his AD. Nostrils the breath of life, and AE. The man became a living creature.

June & the Discipline of Being Present - Sincerely, Callie
http://www.sincerelycallie.com/blog/june-the-discipline-of-being-present
June and the Discipline of Being Present. Summer, even while working shifts at the library and the Judge's office, is a gift. The rhythm of life slows and sweetens, with rare and treasured mornings off, more hours spent with my favorite goddaughter, good conversations over good food , weddings and family, and so many books to gobble up. God is present in these long summer days. Seeing June and Sarah fills me up in the best way. I don't know how to explain it, but being with them narrows my world. It's th...

enjoying the imperfections - Sincerely, Callie
http://www.sincerelycallie.com/blog/enjoying-the-imperfections
In the fall of 2012, I had a lot of ideas about what college should look like. I remember going into Baylor as a freshman, fully expecting a perfect. I began wondering what I was doing wrong on days peppered with bad grades, loneliness, and flat-on-your-face kind of mistakes. My life was oriented around what I thought. Be happening and that backfired in the worst kind of discontentment. I think we should embrace the mess, because God's grace is so absolute and obvious there. Life isn't orchestrated b...

Courage is Not the Absence of Fear. Courage, thank God, is not the absence of fear. I'm repeating that to myself over and over, because it's true. It's about surrendering it all - the hopes, dreams, and plans, and not living your life with fists clenched. It's about curling up with a book that doesn't relate to your thesis (right now, I'm reading. The Opposite of Loneliness. The Shell Collector: Short Stories. Waiting is not synonymous with stopping. Courage is waiting. Courage is moving forward....

2015 - Sincerely, Callie
http://www.sincerelycallie.com/blog/2015-resolutions-reflections
I ache to follow Jesus, to walk alongside him in triumph and heartache, in joy and in pain. I ache to see Him more clearly, and that resolution is under my feet. It's growing in the earth, and I feel Him working here, in me and around me. This year is a big one for me. I'll finish my junior year of college (how is that possible? Aches - Sincerely, Callie

It was Wednesday when I questioned God's goodness. It was a little colder than normal, and I was meeting my mom for dinner. I went to the house, and she had. The thoughts were like a dull headache that roared to a migraine. You took away both of my grandmothers before I was six. You took away my first grandfather when I was twelve. You took away my last grandparent when I was nineteen. I barely got to know them. This is cruel. You are cruel. I am fighting for air. Lots have questioned His goodness. I...
