The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. Monthly Archives: August 2014. Just Call Me Snow 3. Last month I made a big decision. A crazy, exciting, scary, liberating, adventurous, daring, and difficult decision. I decided to move out of my host families’ house. I decided it was time for me to try living on my own. And then the house hunting started. The house hunting was d...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. Monthly Archives: January 2015. There I was: tediously cutting my umpteenth wall decoration, coloring by hand all the pictures that could not be color printed, and fighting a losing battle with an old bottle of glue; thinking to myself. What is it that I am doing right now? Shouldn’t I be teaching? Does this really even matter?

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. The Stuff in Between. With the start of second term just around the corner, it was time for me to hunt down a new planner. Unfortunately, planners are not something you find easily in Thailand (or at all)perhaps this is a cultural thing and a result of the Thai time that I have become. What in the world is my life motto? Life is a...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. Last Christmas in Thailand. Okay, so how much brown sugar do I add to the hot chocolate? Graders – would be extremely stressful for my type A personality. But somehow, in spite of myself, I was laughing and smiling through the chaos. (. Smiling through the chaos. Over the course of our Christmas class party, my students and I figu...

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. Lately I have been doing a lot of thinking about moments. About how they come and go, about how you never know which ones are the important ones, and about how you miss the moment that is happening by thinking about the moments passed or about the moments yet to come. Getting lost in Chiangmai with an old friend. Taking a Thailand...

Excited to serve in Peace Corps Thailand in 2014-2016. August 10, 2002. Welcome to Salas de los Infantes. I'm not sure how this will read because I've been up for about 34 hours if don't count the catnap I had on the plane. Ricardo was excited when the second movie started: K9 with Jim Balushi. After it finished, we both tried to get some sleep. Kind of different because of the cramped quarters. Not an hour went by when they turned up the lights to serve breakfast. Some community gathering was going on a...

Excited to serve in Peace Corps Thailand in 2014-2016. June 7, 2008. 6/7/08 Vancouver, BC - Canada. Didn't really sleep at all last night. Went to bed but my mind kept double and triple checking everything I had done to get ready. Was up by 5am. Mom was great as I waited for the airport van to arrive at 6:30. She can be a rock of gibraltar, steady even in a storm. I hope she has a good summer, even with me gone. [smile]. I was kind of surprised that almost all the Canadian customs officials at arrival we...

Excited to serve in Peace Corps Thailand in 2014-2016. September 2, 2005. Heading to the Casbah. Our Moroccan guide, Abdula, gave us a lot of info about his country and our trip. He said everyone told him he looks like Michael Douglas. So he'd answer to either Abdula or Michael. Driving through Morocco reminded me more of Kenya but the buildings are still very Spanish-looking. Lots of people walking and little vegetation. But the coast road was busy. 4th Year Teaching in Mongolia. Study Spanish in Spain.

The contents of this website are mine personally and do not reflect any position of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps. My adventures of learning Thai and teaching English. A lot easier said than done. At some point during this dark period for me, I made the somewhat comical (and extremely ironic) decision to complete my first marathon in December. Someone told me about the big race that takes place every Christmas in Chiang Mai and it seemed like a perfect opportunity. Where better to do my ...I fou...
