Colourful kayaks, wonderful women donned in cumbersome paddling gear wearing big smiles and sparkling eyes, anticipating antics of the day ahead. Friendly chatter and stories shared, making new friends, carrying kayaks from blue pool, up the river we were led. Learn to be safe on the water. KCC will support a limited number of active club members each year to attend a White Water NZ approved river safety course. These courses teach basic skills for recovering swimmers and gear, dealing with typical kayaking injuries, entrapments, abseiling and rope skills. Grade: II - IV. Grade: I - II. Grade: II - II. The Waiari Stream flows in a deep ravine outside Te Puke. Access on and off this pristine stream is via private property and needs to be arranged in advance with the land owners. The rapids are challenging enough for most novice paddlers but its the pristine water and untouched gorge that has seasoned paddlers returning to this section of water again and again.
