Graphic novels are a great way to get students to share and tell stories without worrying about the writing. This is a great activity for a student who may not excel or enjoy writing, or maybe for a visual learner. It was one of those things where you get extremely excited about and then with your busy schedule it slips your mind. In this video they discovered that using technology was a way to communicate with this young girl. And who would have ever thought that she would be able to fully articulate using a computer?

I heard about this book from BookTube (YouTube’s community of book reviewers) and the rumors that Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to star in the film adaptation. I was a little nervous to read it because I don’t have much experience with historical fiction, but everyone gave positive reviews of the book. My Meds, My Self. I’m an author and journalist based in Troy, New York. I have a particular interest in psychology, women’s health and child development, and make occasional forays into food writing and book reviewing. I also work as a researcher and fact checker for science magazines. My first book, Dosed: The Medication Generation Grows Up. Was released in paperback in fall 2014.
