Passage to Iceland – Kapowai

August 12, 2015. August 10, 2015. We left Bonavista at 1600 on Friday the 31st July for the 7 day voyage to Reykjavik in Iceland. The start was foggy but we saw whales as we waved Canada goodbye. We were escorted the entire way by a number of Northern Fulmars who, at times, flew very close to Kapowai. So close that one or two came close to getting the stem jack pole in a painful place. August 10, 2015. August 9, 2015. Bonavista Harbour is at the top of Bonavista Peninsular, on the eastern shores of Bonavista Bay and south of Cape Bonavista. The locals were quick to correct you if you mixed them up:. I hear it rains a lot up here, ahh thats the Bay you’re thinking of. And the fog, ahh thats the Cape you’re thinking of. Where can I get a beer? A fishing port with a factory and a developing tourist business. It’s main claim to fame is the first landing point of John Cabot.

August 9, 2015. We left Halifax heading for Bonavista Harbour but didn’t get too far. Set up the fuel system incorrectly and the main engine died. Started the wing and with a poor forecast put into Tangier Harbour for the night. Here is the anchorage:. The next day went round to Sheet Harbour and another pleasant night at anchor. I am usually doing work on it so I do not enjoy sitting down at it normally. I found some free time this afternoon to just chill.
