is it dishonest to remove outlires? | whataloadofblog
https://whatalodeofblog.wordpress.com/2011/12/09/is-it-dishonest-to-remove-outlires
Is it dishonest to remove outlires? To be honest I would not use the word dishonest but I would say that sometimes you should remove an outlier . In some of the SONA experiments I must admit I cannot be arsed with at some point an often think I can get away with just pressing X all the time, can leave early and still get my points! This I why I don’t want to remove outlier in data unless I could observe the participants where just pissing about. However, if we unless really wanted to apply the resear...

Type I Errors refer to the times when a person claims that there study/experiment’s results show a significance difference when there is no real significance ( http:/ www.experiment-resources.com/type-I-error.html. However, if we were to consider the trial of a potential criminal, if a Type I Error were to occur, an innocent person would be put in jail but if a Type II Erro...

Just another WordPress.com site. What were the odds of that happening? This week I’m going to show that no matter how hard you try to bury your head in the sand there is no escaping statistics. Probability is a topic we touched on briefly last year. Unsurprisingly it is very easy to find real world examples of probability. In fact, people use this area of statistics on a daily basis without realising that they are using maths. So what is probability? So why did we study probability last year? Probability...

Just another WordPress.com site. Do you need statistics to understand your data? October 5, 2011. From → Uncategorized. I agree completely with your opinion. I do feel that your argument was somewhat lacking in evidence and when you were describing studies that have several hundred participants you could have given an example of a real study. You all have some very good points. However have any of you considered whether there is a need for statistics in case studies, rather than numerical data sets?

A few weeks ago, I took part in an experiment through SONA and a thought arose that I decided to blog about. Just another WordPress.com site. Skip to primary content. Are Case Studies Really Helping Us? February 4, 2012. Overall, case studies are very good at showing in-depth relationships, particularly in unique participants. However, when it comes to psychology, their generalisability is very weak, the conclusions they can draw do not often show cause relationships, and therefore are a weak form of research for the future of psychology. Should science be written for the layman or for scientists? Published March 25, 2012. An issue in psychology and the rest of the scientific world is how research and its findings are written. How should science be written? For the scientist or for the layman? But why does this occur even though some researchers such as Fortey (2008) feel that information should be presented so that the layman can understand it? How do neurons work? On the other hand some such as Cooper (2007) feel that this problem equal...
