Thursday, August 25, 2011. We received rather sudden news from our childcare provider today that Adelaide is "too needy" to be cared for by her any longer. Could we have seen this coming? Perhaps. Over the past couple weeks, Nicole seemed to be pushing toward medicating Adelaide with reflux medication, as she was quite fussy during feedings. We followed her advice (despite being a doctor, I've never had an infant with reflux and she has, right? Who can blame the girl? So, where do we go from here?

Wednesday, May 8, 2013. The world welcomes Matilda Mae. Much earlier than expected! You'd think the second time around, I'd feel more prepared and less anxious about having another baby, but boy was I mistaken! How completely different the exact same experience can be continues to amaze me! This couldn't possibly be my water breaking, right? I'm only 34 5 weeks, feeling nothing in terms of discomfort or contractions, and I've had my water break before with Adelaide and it was nothing like this. Right?

Saturday, October 29, 2011. We decided to start with rice cereal. We took brown rice, ground it in a blender, cooked it in water on the stove, then added formula to thin it out. At first, she wasn't quite sure what to do with it - making faces, spitting it out. We tried later in the day with a little more progress, but she still wasn't too into it. In the afternoon, though, she started to really enjoy it. We'll spend a couple more days with the rice, then the plan is to move onto oatmeal! Adelaide's last...

The Short Family Blog. Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Yesterday we took Everett to the zoo and he loved the giraffe and the tiger! The giraffe was a little scary and he didn't want to get very close to it, but we loved watching it eat lettuce at the feeding station. The tiger, on the other hand, does not scare him at all- he starts squealing with joy when it comes up to the glass within a few inches of his face. He kept saying "rarr" and "big kitty.".
