Sunday, April 11, 2010. Assembly for holding alignment string. The plane of each form need to be square to the strongback and aligned with all the other forms. Getting the forms aligned was an extremely interactive process and it took me forever to get a system together that I felt confident in. If I had to do again, it would probably take me only a matter of hours instead of the days it took me. Angle aluminum for adjusting form position. Using the string to align one of the forms. Once all the forms we...

Tim's Blog of Kayaking and Life: April 2011

Wednesday, April 20, 2011. OK, in my last post I lied about the content of this post, but I think this is the best place for this one. The strips are flexible, but only to a point. It can be challenging to get them to conform to the forms. When you force them into place, they like to spring back and are often under enough tension to pull a staple out. In addition they often need to be twisted into the proper shape. And if you bend one too far.SNAP! Next time, the biggest mistake so far, I promise. To cut...

Thursday, May 27, 2010. After all the difficulties with the forms.after the trials and tribulations of getting wood cut.after all the worry about what mistakes are left to make.after making sure I got the book-matched strips in order. I installed the first strip! I started by doing a bevel that approximately matches 1/2 of what is required where the deck meets the hull. Then, using clamps and plywood holders I positioned the strip, eye-balled it for fairness, then started stapling. Bend at the bow. Wedne...

Sunday, June 19, 2011. Holding Down Bent Strips. I decided not to use staples on the deck of the boat. This means that strips have to be held into place with something else when they are glued into place. I'm using a dab of hot glue where the strips meet the forms. Hot glue isn't as strong as a staple, so in difficult situations other means are necessary. A notch is cut into a small piece of scrap wood:. The wood clamp is placed where needed, a hole is drilled, and a screw holds it into place:. I cut the...

http://blanketswap.blogspot.com/2008/01/blankie-up-date.html
Watching Good Deeds Travel the World. Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Just a little update to let everyone know where the blanket is and the last few places it needs to go! Right now the blanket is hanging out at Taylor's. Place (She got it during the holiday season, so naturally it wasn't a huge priority) and is doing well. It should be finished fairly soon, and on it's way to the last few places. Here are the last few destinations it needs to go. Then back to me. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

http://blanketswap.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Watching Good Deeds Travel the World. Wednesday, October 31, 2007. Hi fellow knitters. Um, the previous entry was ghost written by my 14-year-old son, Thomas. He was helping me post pictures and playing around with me, saying "see, mom, I can totally do your writing style" Then to my horror he clicked on. The Cooking Man in one of the shots is my husband. Love to see that man in the kitchen! Hi, finally finished my part of the blanket and I'm ready to pass it on now. Whew! Oh wait, that was. At the time ...

Charity Blanket Swap: April 2008
http://blanketswap.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Watching Good Deeds Travel the World. Saturday, April 12, 2008. Well here is part of my square. I might make the other half of the miter (though it would have to be solid purple as I'm out of the blue), or I might just attach it and make a border. I'm already plotting the wonderful things I'll send along to Kyle! Wednesday, April 2, 2008. I have no pictures of the blanket yet so you will have to content yourselves with a picture of my cat Jonis being cute. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Saturday, May 19, 2007. I received the blanket and some other goodies mid last-week from sara. Tuesday, May 15, 2007.
