Playing with Docker and Linked Containers. In my current job, I am starting the process to upgrade our PHP 5.4 application to a PHP 5.6 application (PHP 7 is not yet support by the majority of the 3rd party libraries we use). I have been tasked with building the staging server for use in testing our legacy application as well as our newer Symfony-based application. We are using an older version of MySQL as well. This seems like a perfect opportunity to play with Docker. Drupal8: image: drupal links: - dr...

HiR Information Report: OpenBSD 5.5 PHP/MySQL walk-throughs are updated
http://www.h-i-r.net/2014/05/openbsd-55-phpmysql-walk-throughs-are.html
OpenBSD 5.5 PHP/MySQL walk-throughs are updated. As of last night, the walk-throughs for setting up PHP/MySQL stacks on OpenBSD have been updated for OpenBSD 5.5. In November, OpenBSD is planning on dropping Apache from the base distribution, so now is the time to bone up. Don't worry, Apache will still be in the package repository (likely only apache2), but expect the Apache walk-through to have some dramatic changes later this year. At any rate, belhold, the updated guides:. HiR Blog RSS Feed. Has been...

HiR Information Report: It's a loop recorder for your network!
http://www.h-i-r.net/2014/10/its-loop-recorder-for-your-network.html
It's a loop recorder for your network! I haven't written here much lately. I've been swamped with work and real life. Sudo tcpdump -i eth0 -wPacketLog -W10 -C100M. If you want to monitor your whole network, this works best if you have a span/mirror port set up, or you can make a passive network tap. To review the contents of the saved file, use tcpdump -nvXs0 -r PacketLogN. It's a loop recorder for your network! I haven't written here much lately. I've been swamped with work and real life. HiR Information Report: PHP/MySQL on OpenBSD's relayd-based httpd
http://www.h-i-r.net/p/setting-up-openbsd-relayd-based-httpd.html
PHP/MySQL on OpenBSD's relayd-based httpd. In OpenBSD 5.6, we were introduced to a new web server written specifically for OpenBSD, simply called httpd, which was based on relayd. We’re going to tackle setting up OpenBSD to serve “LAMP” web apps with its new httpd, MariaDB (a MySQL fork in OpenBSD Ports) and PHP-FPM. As of April 23, 2016, this guide has been updated for OpenBSD 5.9. It was tested on the amd64 and i386 architectures. First, install OpenBSD. Permit keepenv {ENV PS1 SSH AUTH SOCK} :wheel.

HiR Information Report: November 2014
http://www.h-i-r.net/2014_11_01_archive.html
Was released to the world today. The first things I noticed was a hint of better laptop support via an extra prompt from the installer, and the fact that they have finally ditched a functioning version of the apache fork in the base distribution, requiring users to rely on either nginx or the all-new relayd-based httpd, both of which are provided in OpenBSD 5.6. I've already updated the walk-through for OpenBSD/nginx/MySQL/PHP-FPM. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). PHP/MySQL on OpenBSDs relayd-based httpd.
