Journalist in the City: Phone talk
http://tswartz.blogspot.com/2005/04/phone-talk.html
Journalist in the City. Thursday, April 07, 2005. I’ve been attached to my cellphone ever since I got my first clunky, gray phone at age 16. Over the years, phones in different sizes and colors have come and gone, but Cingular has always been my cellular service. But in the months since I moved to New York, the service has been spotty and the caller ID has worked about half the time. Verizon Wireless, http:/ www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.jsp. And Cingular, http:/ www.cingular.com. As a Cingular custo...

Journalist in the City: February 2005
http://tswartz.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
Journalist in the City. Saturday, February 26, 2005. Not in Kansas anymore. The online edition of The Kansas City Star. Is one of the cookie-cutter Knight Ridder Web sites that I despise because they are difficult to navigate and have a boring layout and few pictures. I've been to Kansascity.com. Several times, having grudgingly registered as a member a few months ago, but returned Saturday, Feb. 26 for a specific reason. I was looking for news on the arrested of the BTK killings suspect. Meanwhile, the ...

Views from the Pen: Response to EOTO Project by Christy Kinnion

Views from the Pen. Friday, November 05, 2004. Response to EOTO Project by Christy Kinnion. I never saw that coming. I guess the possibility was always there, but I never thought we'd see it in our lifetimes. But just as Christy mentioned all the positive possibilites of these cyber institutions these can be wiped out in one fail swoop by the misdeeds of a few money hungry individuals. Another interesting point that she made was the fact that many of these bogus on-line schools are based in western state...

Views from the Pen. Friday, November 05, 2004. Response to EOTO Project by Michelle Klemens. Having been forced into a life of volunteerism at an early age I was interested to view Michelle's thoughts on this topic. I definitely agree with her ascertion that non-profits and the Digital Divide are definitely a valid concern. My mother and I ran the Special Olympic programs in our county for years and one of biggest concerns was always stocking the office. So I can certainly emphathize with this program.
