Hopefully by now my handful of readers have come to terms with the fact that it'll be awhile between posts, so I won't bother apologizing or explaining. On the whole, I think this is a good thing. many of my assumptions were overdue for reexamination, and I don't want to get too set in my thinking regardless. Wednesday, January 10, 2007. Item: I am so tired of my cell phone demagnetizing things. Hotel room keys, DC Metro cards, what have you. What is it in cell phones that does that? Is it possible that someone could invent one that doesn't? Or couldn't places just use some sort of scan-strip technology that doesn't go crazy when it gets near cell phones? Wednesday, April 28, 2004. The DC trip was really quite an experience. I keep looking back on the Saturday IMF/World Bank protest, and the first thought that comes to mind is "It was really small." Which isn't fair at all, since the fact that the Sunday march was about 100 times larger shouldn't affect my interpretation of it, but I can't really help it. That makes me an activist, to join my voice with the people around me and yell "This is what democracy looks like! It fed my soul a little, I think.

Tuesday, August 26, 2003. Jokes the whole way through. And Sunday we visited Jamestown, where this adorable old lady gave a tour in the persona of one of the early settlers, and we watched glassblowing (fascinating! On the site where glassblowing was done in the 1610s and 20s. It was nice, since we haven't had a family vacation, even a mini one, in a little while. Sunday, March 28, 2004. And suddenly my life is changing, very rapidly. I'll likely start a week from tomorrow, on April 5th.
