Homeschool Brain Dump: August 2012
http://homeschoolbraindump.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
A Dumping Ground for the Thought Clouds that Swirl Through My Homeschooling Brain. Thursday, August 23, 2012. We made it. When Bean paddled into the harbor just before noon today, her two-day stand up paddleboard (SUP) class ended. A full summer's worth of eight weeks of classes ended as she paddled under the bridge that signals the border between the calm waters of the north harbor and the choppier waters near the entrance to the bay. Dr. Yap and I looked at each other. She did it! Links to this post.

Kia Ora, Y'all!: Hello again ...
http://dunedinyank.blogspot.com/2009/12/hello-again.html
Kia Ora, Y'all! From the deep south of the U.S. to the deep south of New Zealand . Monday, December 7, 2009. 1) The trip. What a fun, fun, fun trip to North America we had. (A million years ago now! Five weeks of amazing times with Chris's family in Vancouver, my family in Texas, and dear friends in Georgia. Could not have been happier to see everyone. Zach was an angel baby on every plane ride and aside from a couple of rough jet-lagged nights he was a trooper. 4) Thanksgiving. We just hosted an Ame...

Photos and ramblings about everyday life in the beautiful place we call home. Sunday, September 23, 2007. Ok, due to ben ryterband I needed to make some tiki and get it out of my system. I had a lot of fun making them and I plan on slipcasting a gaggle of them for a giant mai tai toast to something. I just started taking pottery 101 at bennington college with barry. it is amazing to be spinning pots again and I'm very much enjoying approaching this familiar medium with a "beginner's mind". We went to the...

Homeschool Brain Dump: An Ode to the Library
http://homeschoolbraindump.blogspot.com/2011/02/ode-to-library.html
A Dumping Ground for the Thought Clouds that Swirl Through My Homeschooling Brain. Monday, February 21, 2011. An Ode to the Library. As I lug 50 pound bag of books across the street or around the corner. The kids running ahead or lagging behind. I don't mind the weight because I know four small hands will soon put it all in the book drop. Taking peaks in the slot hoping to see hands on the other side whisking away the volumes. The empty bag will droop from my shoulder as I lag behind the kids. A whole ro...

Suthichai Yoon's personal journal: July 2013
http://suthichaiyoon.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 22, 2013. Why do we need others to tell us to invest in our own future? I am not sure why we have to be told by people from the outside that we must invest in our own future. Bloomberg View columnist William Pesek quoted economist Peter Warr at the Australian National University in Canberra as saying:. 8220;There is little sign that inadequate investment in human capital and the need for reform of the education system is recognized by the current government…”. There has been no shortage of r...

Sunday, September 15, 2013. The '108 Forums' nobody has heard of. 8216;108 forums’ around the nation that nobody has heard of. It must have come as a surprise to many. A Cabinet release last week said the government had acknowledged an official report to the effect that a nationwide campaign of public hearings for national reconciliation at 108 forums had been completed. Suthichai Yoon's personal journal: National bad habits that keep us "under-developed"
http://suthichaiyoon.blogspot.com/2013/10/national-bad-habits-that-keep-us-under.html
Wednesday, October 9, 2013. National bad habits that keep us "under-developed". Somebody posted a message on Facebook the other day, suggesting that Thailand had lagged behind because of some “bad habits” that served to keep Thailand “underdeveloped.”. He listed 8 “Thai habits” that he considered to be the main obstacles to turning Thailand into a “developed country.”. 8220;What he calls patronage system is in fact the traditional networking culture of Thai society. What’s wrong with that? 8220;Thai peop...
