Sunday, October 24, 2010. Museums and the Future. In the 20 th. Museum and/or art gallery in the imagination of the colonised and colonising world was an institution steeped in romantic visions of the classics, empire and hegemonic belief systems –. Albeit increasingly reflective visions as the century drew to a close. Overlaid on this came the celebration of the industrial era that was fueled by the socioeconomic Industrial Revolution. About Scraptures | SCRAPTURE QUILTS

Creating pictures from tiny scraps of fabric. I will eventually write a brief history of my development of the concept of a scrapture quilt. The first formal presentation of my work was at a meeting of the Ottawa Valley Quilt Guild in Ottawa, Canada in 2002 and the first article about it was published in the spring of 2006 in the American Quilter. I stipple away to my heart’s content. It is like running, which they say can be addictive. The most exciting moment is near: the reveal! After the wash, lay th...

Creating pictures from tiny scraps of fabric. This is a scrapture. What is a scrapture? It’s a picture made from scraps, of course. Fabric scraps, particularly cotton. Creating pictures from tiny scraps of fabric. Scrapture Quilt with a border. When completing a scrapture, I am often undecided about how to finish it. Should I put a simple binding on it, or should it be fully framed. What do you think? Sometimes I use just binding, and in others I have used a larger frame, as in this example where the actual picture is inside a larger frame. I always free-motion quilt the frame as well, but much less heavily than the actual picture part. November 23, 2013.

Creating pictures from tiny scraps of fabric. Frances Emery is a fibre artist. Some years ago she developed a quilting technique of creating pictures from scraps of fabric. The scraps are placed as if they were brush strokes in an oil painting. In this timelapse video, two weeks of work are compressed into a few seconds. In this video, Frances illustrates the critically important skill of free-motion quilting in the final stages of creating a scrapture. Free motion stipple quilting demo. WOW, your own we...
