Buying an adult figure skating costume (gulp) | Sarah on Ice
https://sarahonice.wordpress.com/2012/12/01/buying-an-adult-figure-skating-costume-gulp
Adult figure skater. Barely. Buying an adult figure skating costume (gulp). Asymp; 12 Comments. With the holiday show on the schedule, I’ve been looking to acquire my first figure skating costume. Eek! Just not gonna work on adult hips, no way. Having never done dance or any sort of performance art, I was totally in over my head on this one, and didn’t really know where to start. As with most things, I turned to the internet. It’s one of the things I’m struggling with in the program — f...With that in mi...

On Thin Ice: June 2015
http://agingskater.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 14, 2015. Maybe someone should tell all those elite kids who skate twice a day, six days a week to just go to the beach or goof off or do something completely different every now and then. Somehow I'd not picked up on this. But that's why coaches are so valuable! Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Summer Doldrums are better than Summer Tantrums but only just. Since my home rink closed for it's customary two month maintenance routine I've gone from skating four to six times a week to maybe twice a we...

On Thin Ice: 2014/15 Season Wrap Up
http://agingskater.blogspot.com/2015/05/201415-season-wrap-up.html
Friday, May 1, 2015. 2014/15 Season Wrap Up. Sixteen columns of ice pass stickers x eight rows = 128 times on the ice between July 2014 and May 2015. It scares me to guesstimate the $ value of all those hours on the ice. Thirty one stickers were for pricy 1 hour Free Style sessions, the remainder are from Public sessions which were either 1.5 or 2 hours long. May 3, 2015 at 12:03 PM. That wall of stickers is truly impressive, George. You will need a new cubicle before long! May 3, 2015 at 4:02 PM. Nope, ...

On Thin Ice: February 2015
http://agingskater.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 21, 2015. I'm a casual Olympic pin collector; mainly sailing (summer games) and of course skating pins from the winter games. I was idly trolling "flea-bay" about a week ago and spotted this unrelated pin:. I'm guessing perhaps it dates to the 1950s. Can anyone reading this post add to the story? Sunday, February 8, 2015. We arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon. Quiet Waters. It didn't take much arm twisting. I'd like to try this rink again when conditions are more favorable. I pla...Besid...

And how to fix it. Oh, so that’s how it goes! August 15, 2015. Now that there is a movement afoot to allow skaters to choose their own music for compulsory dances (hooray! I have been thinking about all kinds of possibilities. I am just starting to think about music for the Kilian. Since then, I’ve watched countless g...

On Thin Ice: Summer Doldrums
http://agingskater.blogspot.com/2015/06/summer-doldrums.html
Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Summer Doldrums are better than Summer Tantrums but only just. Since my home rink closed for it's customary two month maintenance routine I've gone from skating four to six times a week to maybe twice a week if I'm lucky, when the alternate rink's (Piney Orchard) schedule and mine align. One of those times includes an ice dance lesson so I'm guaranteed to get on the ice at least once a week. Knees before placing the free skate on the ice. It actually worked! June 11, 2015 at 9:29 AM.

On Thin Ice: July 2015

Thursday, July 16, 2015. Tough start to the new season. Risk" indeed. You don't want to wake up in the ER wearing this wristband. The new skating season for Bowie Ice Arena always starts with the rink's early July reopening after the annual two month maintenance shut down. This year that meant Monday, the 6th of July. Looking at the rink's schedule, there were no convenient times that date so daristdaughter and I deferred until Tuesday's 6:45-8:45pm public session. Labels: Insults and Injuries. I don't l...
