Camissonia's Critter Life List. Sunday, September 11, 2016. Snowberry Clearwing (Hemaris diffinis). This is one cool moth! First time I saw it hovering around the butterfly bush I did a double take, because it was just so weird, but in a cool and beautiful way. Hawk/Sphinx moth? I didn't think they would be seen out and about at noon on a hot summer day. Besides, this guy had clear wings and looked like a cross between a bumble bee and hummingbird. What's up with that? COMMON NAME: Snowberry Clearwing.

Camissonia's CA Native Plant Life List: Penstemon rostriflorus (Bridge's Penstemon)
http://camissoniascalnativeplantlifelist.blogspot.com/2016/12/penstemon-rostriflorus-bridges-penstemon.html
Camissonia's CA Native Plant Life List. I"ve been an amateur (and I mean that in every sense of the word) "botanist" since circa 1997 with a special interest in California native plants. An incidental yet corollary passion of mine is birding and, like many fellow birders, I keep a Life List of all the bird species that I've observed in my lifetime, so I thought, why not also create a life list for my observations of plants in the field? Camissonia's Critter Life List. Sunday, September 11, 2016. California Myotis Bat (Myotis californicus). This tiny and actually very cute (as far as bats go) native vesper bat flew into our master bedroom through the open sliding doors of the balcony at around 12:45am. I was brushing my teeth just before turning in and saw this thing fluttering around and thought it was a giant moth until it landed on the curtains. OMG! COMMON NAME: California Myotis Bat. FAMILY: Vespertilionidae (Vesper Bats). Duck, Pek...
