Monday, September 05, 2005. My Summer in Pictures. My buddy Alex and I with John Adams, the infamous drummer at the Jake. Alex shares my insatiable desire for all things Cleveland. This summer we hit up an Indians game and the Feast of the Assumption. We'll spend all year reminiscing about our city. The kiddies show Mr. Doug who's boss. I spent my summer working as a camp counselor for 5-year olds. At the local YMCA. And went on countless other adventures. Damn it. Cleveland Rocks! Posted by DN at 2:12 PM.

Tuesday, November 29, 2005. Questions for My Cleveland Grandma. Over the Christmas holiday I plan on sitting down with her again. Armed with my computer, I plan on recording her stories. Surely some of you have lost a parent or a grandparent and didn't get a chance to ask them questions. What questions do you wish you could have asked? What questions should I ask my grandmother? Posted by DN at 7:53 PM. Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Ohio's Newest State Senator. Who is Eric Kearney? Posted by DN at 6:20 PM.

Friday, December 02, 2005. Growing up in Cleveland, my friend Alex and I have grown to associate ethnic groups with certain areas of Cleveland. At Ohio State, we have been exposed to lots of other people from Cleveland and generally, our experiences confirm the stereotypes of our youth. We've also found that other Cleveland kids tend to share our predispositions. The East Side is full of Italians. A search for Hebrew speakers confirms the obvious about Beachwood and Shaker. This map confirms two things:.

Tuesday, November 08, 2005. In bellwether Lake County, Issues 2-5 failed by wide margins with all 217 precincts reporting. It is impossible for the issues to fail this dramatically in moderate, independant-heavy Lake County and pass state wide. Here are the results from the Lake County Elections Board. State Issue 2 - No fault absentee. State Issue 3 - Campaign Finance Limits. State Issue 4 - Redistricting Board. State Issue 5 - State Board of Elections. Posted by DN at 9:17 PM. Wednesday, November 16, 2005. Ohio's Newest State Senator. The election of Mark Mallory as Mayor of Cincinnati left a vacancy in the Ohio Senate. There has been much speculation over who would be appointed to fill the seat. Today the mystery is over. Eric Kearney has been selected to fill Mallory's Seat by the Senate Democratic Caucus. Who is Eric Kearney? Kearny seems like a pretty solid pick. He's young, he's savvy, and he's got the money to run an election campaign. Welcome to the Senate Eric.

Wednesday, July 20, 2005. As a camp counselor for 4, 5, and 6-year olds, I run into plenty of cute kids every day. There are few cuter than this shy 4-year old named Taylor. She is one of those kids you'd love to have as a parent. She's polite, playful and precious as can be. Taylor only has one glaring, tragic, and damnable flaw:. She's a diehard Michigan fan! What are the magic words Taylor? Come on Taylor, you know them! Taylor: Mr. Doug, It's not "Go Bucks! What are you doing? And started chasing her...

Wednesday, September 07, 2005. Although I'm in Columbus, Kathryn is still in Cleveland until tomorrow. This morning she went with a friend to Huntington Beach to watch the sunrise. Kathryn says they were the only ones at the beach. It's amazing more people don't come out to see such beauty. Of course, I'm not one to talk. I've never seen a Cleveland sunrise. I'll have to put it on top of my list of things to do. Posted by DN at 5:07 PM. MB Matthews: Street Smarts. Mistake By The Lake Sporting Times.
