We met many years ago and married in Gibraltar in September 2010. After a lot of thought and saving we have decided to have an extra long and well deserved honeymoon travelling around Africa.We will go down the west coast to South Africa, then up the East coast whilst the route is still open. Apart from that, two nights ago we went to bed after having a meal and drinks with some friends to what we thought was the sound of a firework display (wow they must have spent thousands). We couldn't sleep with all of the noise so everyone got out of bed only to find it was actually a military protest as 5 soldiers had been convicted of some crime or another. Our only concern was that our passports were in the middle of town at the Ghana Embassy.

We arrived in Nouakchott at lunch time on Monday and went straight to the Mali embassy to apply for our visas, which we got within a couple of hours, record time for Africa!
