Landscape Therapy

There are so many things and creatures in the natural world that I used to filter out and not even notice. As I started noticing them, the world became a richer and more fascinating place. Taking pictures seems to give me the reason to pay more attention to my surroundings. Insects, mushrooms, and mollusks play a prominent role in my images. Plus, gazing at the landscape is therapeutic.

Landscape Therapy: The Shadow Knows

http://landscapetherapy.blogspot.com/2010/03/shadow-knows.html

Saturday, March 20, 2010. Warm and a tad humid but still glorious outside. We saw a couple of Tiger Swallowtails, a lone turkey, and lots of other bird life. A good first day of spring. Landscape Therapy: Peel Me One

http://landscapetherapy.blogspot.com/2011/03/peel-me-one.html

Monday, March 14, 2011. I think we need to abolish this ridiculous daylight savings time thing. Of course, the extra hour of daylight was consumed by clouds and the remnants of the cloudburst from last night. The Muscari looked good in the gloom. Labels: The Urban Forest. The Camera Project: April 2009

http://thecameraproject.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Meet the Cameras: Argus 75. A friend (& co-worker) of mine picked this up at a garage sale. The exciting part: it has two rolls of vintage color 620 film and two flash bulbs included. I'm going to see if they still work. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Professionally, I know all about the care and feeding of prints and negatives. The Avid Collector: Slave Leia Premium Format

http://theavidcollector.blogspot.com/2009/04/slave-leia-premium-format.html

Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Slave Leia Premium Format. Well, I got it today. This morning, in fact. Early. Pounding on my door. Dogs barking. And I don't own a dog. Although one day, I should like to. Preferably a mutt. But I digress. Either way, I believe my Slave Leia collection is now complete. What else can they do? All poses have been exhausted. All the collectible companies have had their say. (I reserve the right to revise my previous statement upon the release of a new item). April 5, 2011 at 1:23 PM.

The Camera Project: Three

http://thecameraproject.blogspot.com/2011/03/three.html

Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I've become fairly proficient with my digital camera. My traditional film photography foundation, however, is shaky at best- the film cameras I've used have always been point and shoot. I was never one of the cool kids who wound their own film and took angst-ridden shots. Professionally, I know all about the care and feeding of prints and negatives. More than 10 years ago now, I took over management of a scanning project (for access purposes, not preservation!

I've got to start somewhere and this will get me used to working on a theme for a month. I'll move it on over to a film camera with the next theme (b&w won't work for an orange theme anyway). The Avid Collector: Globular Globes

http://theavidcollector.blogspot.com/2009/04/globular-globes.html

Wednesday, April 1, 2009. My gemstone paperweight globes. Strangely, I don't weigh any paper down with them. I mainly use them to collect dust. I once thought about getting a triangular paperweight with a globe in a clear center. But as it has a sharp point, I figured I'd fall on it one day and stab myself. I worry about things like that. The Avid Collector: Slave Leia Standee

http://theavidcollector.blogspot.com/2009/04/slave-leia-standee.html

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. It depends on who you ask. In this case, I asked myself and the answer was, predictably: standee. I may change my mind later. And I may not. Anyway, in the dark silhouetted against an open window, this thing can be rather frightening. As it is, I put it in a corner. Not so scary that way. Plus it partially hides a cord, so it has some uses, at least. I'd write something else, but I don't feel like it right now. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Soggy Start to Spring.

The Avid Collector: Rawcliffe Star Wars Pewter Collection

http://theavidcollector.blogspot.com/2009/04/star-wars-pewter-collection.html

Friday, April 10, 2009. Rawcliffe Star Wars Pewter Collection. Much to my own dismay, I sold off Jabba the Hutt. You see, I was never the biggest fan of the slimy, wormridden piece of filth. But I am once again on the lookout for his corpulent mass so that my character collection of pewter figures will be complete. As I collect Slave Leia items, too, I took a close up of that one.
