http://jskaphobe.blogspot.com/2011/03/zorn-palette.html
Thursday, March 10, 2011. I haven't posted my head painting stuff in a while. We recently started using color, specifically the Zorn palette. (The Zorn palette is basically a red/yellow/blue color scheme using a warm red, yellow ochre, and ivory black.). Looking forward to doing more of these! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Visual Stimuli: Pick-out Oil Technique
http://jskaphobe.blogspot.com/2011/02/pick-out-oil-technique.html
Sunday, February 20, 2011. A few images from my Head Painting class at TAD with Ron Lemen. We had to utilize the "pick-out" technique to create an image. I loved painting this guy, who apparently had lived as a hobo catching trains for most of his life. He definitely has character! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Visual Stimuli: Portrait of Serena
http://jskaphobe.blogspot.com/2011/02/portrait-of-serena.html
Monday, February 7, 2011. Another alla prima portrait study I did tonight - this one was tweeted live with in progress pics via my Twitter. Took a few better resolution photos of the process for the blog too, so here goes:. After some blending back with a hog bristle brush to lose some of my edges and weave colors together, I added a few highlights and finished out a few details. A close up of the face. I'm having a lot of fun doing these fast studies! More to come :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Visual Stimuli: Neon Reverb Artists show @PWC Gallery
http://jskaphobe.blogspot.com/2011/03/neon-reverb-artists-show-pwc-gallery.html
Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Neon Reverb Artists show @PWC Gallery. Well, I created a few last minute pieces for the Neon Reverb Artists show at the PWC Gallery, which will be opening this First Friday, March 4th. I had a few musically inspired pieces in mind a while ago for submission, but thought it would be a good opportunity to create a few illustrations of some of my favorite musicians. Preliminary sketch for Meg and Jack White of the White Stripes. The finished illustrations, which are framed separately.
