A Brief Early History. When I heard this, my heart dropped. How in the world could someone not know how traditional animation is accomplished? I’m going to be covering what I think is essential to know about animation, I won’t be covering every little detail so I apologize to those who are more seasoned than I if I glaze over a few things. Stereoscopy and its Place in Films. Now I know why movie companies and such opt to say 3D instead of stereo (can you imagine the marketing for films? So by now I’m sure it’s blatantly obvious that I am not a fan of stereo. To me, it ceases to make films. Shot in stereo so kudos for that. But what I hate the most? This little moment from Up stood out to me in stereo. What are your thoughts on stereoscopy in movies? When should it be used or not used? November 18, 2011. Uncategorized. You are commenting us...

Taking Art to the Next Level. Traditional art is moving to infinity and beyond, but are we really ready for it? I originally started this blog for one of my new-age “experimental” English classes back during my sophomore year in college to answer a question that many other artists always seem to wrestle with;. As traditional art continues it’s courtship with the digital realm, are we loosing an art form? Or is art merely evolving into something greater? One thought on “ About. 02/18/2011 at 4:50 am.

Newer posts →. October 1, 2011 · 2:48 pm. So if you’ve read my former posts, you know I’ve been blabbing about my ad design project. Well, I have yet to reveal to you my final ads and what my professor thought of them. When they are returned to me I will update you. I take my homework with me everywhere. Ideas flow constantly and there isn’t a moment where I am not analyzing the typography used on a poster, or admiring the design and concept of an advertisement. Do you have any specific inspiration?

Monthly Archives: December 2011. December 3, 2011 · 2:47 pm. I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! As this semester is coming to an end, all the projects start piling up. 3 graphic design classes means 3 different graphic design projects which means a lot of work in two weeks. My final projects consist of a menu for my logo project, an ad campaign for Aquarium of the Pacific, and spreads for my portfolio critique that is in the Spring. Monthly Archives: October 2011. October 27, 2011 · 12:33 am. Controversy with Bad Design. In the graphic design world, much of our problems stem from bad design. I can distinctly remember last year, walking into one of my design classes and everyone was buzzing about the horrible, distasteful, new Gap logo. Also, right after the Gap fiasco. Came the Big Ten Logo controversy. Below are the two Gap designs, on the left the re-design, and the right, the traditional:. Apple did make that first initial jump, ...

A Culture of Green →. October 13, 2011 · 12:52 am. As you may know already, I am taking a typography class. In the beginning, we visited a printing museum and learned how they printed flyers and such in the olden days. It was actually really cool and we got to use some of the equipment to print our names on paper and make greeting cards. I even hung mine up on my wall. Do you have a favorite typeface? Are you in love with some styles and not others? Do you root for the serifs or the sans serifs? You are ...

Controversy with Bad Design. Motivation and advice from a student →. November 4, 2011 · 11:47 pm. What comes to mind when you think of currency? Do you see the euro or ben franklin? Do you think graphic design? I am a graphic designer and I never thought of currency as a design. I don’t know exactly why, but it just never came to mind. Most people think of graphic design as just posters and packaging, but graphic design is so much more, graphic design is even currency! The next step is marker comps. ...

Motivation and advice from a student. November 18, 2011 · 7:13 pm. Going back to seeing different things as design, like how I used currency as an example, have you ever thought about statistics as design? It’s interesting, atleast to me, how you can really design almost anything. In our world today, we are intrigued by anything visually pleasing. So, since Thanksgiving is coming up, I thought it would be fun to share some turkey graphics. This is an original graph, plain and simple:. Super cool, right?

Monthly Archives: September 2011. September 30, 2011 · 11:17 pm. The final steps to wrapping up your concept are not always easy. As I ended my last post I was talking about the yo momma jokes and my first marker comps. After making the decision of doing ads based on chicken jokes I made these marker comps:. For those who don’t know what marker comps are, they are on marker paper, which doesn’t bleed like plain paper and we use special, way too expensive prismacolor markers). I used to hate class critiqu...

Friday, August 14, 2015. Bacon, Gorgonzola, and Jam Pizza. Last Friday I went to a Korean spa with my coworkers. We have been planning to go for a few months, and we finally made it happen. It was weird but enjoyable. I had never done anything like it. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Bacon and Gorgonzola Risotto with Fig. I made something amazing, and youre looking at it. Its varying shades of brown look underwhelming, but it tasted spectacular. It was packed with bacon, pungent cheese, and chewy, dried figs.

Disney Princesses: Why They’re So Dang Skinny. So why are the princesses so skinny? Or why do some characters appear ridiculously huge? Why children of course! Characters are designed specifically to be read and understood easily by anyone at any age. And a character is most easily read when their traits are simplified and exaggerated, which is why it is rare to see a character with average proportions. But what does easy reading entail exactly? Freedom with style also allows iconic characters to be crea...
