Sunday, July 12, 2009. Friday was our camp Halloween celebration (yes, we're doing some American holiday celebrations here on random days that are not the actual holidays). The kids came up with some amazingly creative costumes, especially considering that most of them did not pack costume materials and most of them had to get creative with the clothes they already had or go to fabric stores and make things on their own. Should we see some pictures? Nicole Lipsy as Amy Winehouse. It's me and my class!

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted, but I've been pretty busy this week with classes and activities that it's been hard to find time to sit down and blog. So I'm only finally getting to my pictures from Sunday, when I went to the town of Golub-Dobrzyn. The castle was really pretty and was perched in an area with a really nice view of the town below. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Not a huge update here - last night for dinner we had chicken salad made with rice and raisins, along with some cheese and bread. Probably the least Polish meal so far, but it was really good. After dinner, we had a scavenger hunt that the whole camp participated in. Not only did campers have to find items around the camp, they also had to answer questions about American holidays, celebrities, and idioms. Here's the groups trying to answer the questions:. Tuesday, July 7, 2009. On Saturday our Polish hosts wanted to give us a good 4th of July, so in the morning they prepared a reception for us with fruit, champagne, and snacks. Yes, I'm aware that this blog is becoming mostly just food pictures, but you know what? We had a lot of people give toasts on freedom, independence, and how America and Poland have helped each other achieve those goals so much over the centuries (tear! Then when we finally got to the river, we waited for our boat to come pick us up.
