The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/i-have-no-words.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Saturday, December 17, 2011. I have no words. It's just too dang hard. The staff is delivering more and more notes to me that just rip away a piece of my heart each time I read them. So, choosing a cowardly brief exit until I can distance myself a little, I will just say,. Thank you for loving me, Uganda.". Blue has left the building . . . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: You're up to your neck in Muzungu's, Apollo!
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/muzungu.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Thursday, December 15, 2011. You're up to your neck in Muzungu's, Apollo! Inside. She said she shared all the writings with her sister. I found out her mother is only 42 years old. That was shocking to me. I’m not sure how old Rita is, but she seems older than being able to have a mother in her early 40’s! Rita also has 6 sisters and 3 brothers! Geezeeeeeeeeee . . . I can’t think about that! We have done a lot. I strolled back to the Ridar Hotel enjoying every moment of m...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: 10/23/11 - 10/30/11
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011_10_23_archive.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Saturday, October 29, 2011. Second Saturday with the Children! After taking individual photos of all the children last Saturday, my promise to them was to get the pictures printed and bring to our meeting today. They were so excited to think about having their own pictures of themselves! Another Twilight Zone moment! And as for my call to tell someone I was going to be late, I'm not sure anyone in Uganda knows what the term 'late' means anyway! I say good naturedly! I ran...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: Brutally hot and no one in sight!
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/this-morning-i-had-breakfast-with.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Brutally hot and no one in sight! This morning I had breakfast with Kayemba Patrick. The dining room was very busy and for the first time ever, someone came and sat with me at my table, even though there were empty tables still available. Patrick is here for an NGO meeting. He is on the board of Transparency, a program which has been studying, in depth, the educational system of Uganda. Really? Thank you, Lord. The children were all there tonig...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: The Children's Christmas Party . . . and my last full day in Uganda
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/childrens-christmas-party-and-my-last.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Friday, December 16, 2011. The Children's Christmas Party . . . and my last full day in Uganda. I cannot say another goodbye, and I haven’t even had to say that to Jannet and Joseph yet! I dallied to church around 11:30, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of my final walk down Bukerere Road toward the church. It was a cool day, for Uganda, so I was happy about that. It would be good for all the children, too. The ladies were very surprised I knew how to peel a potato!

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: 10/30/11 - 11/6/11
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011_10_30_archive.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Saturday, November 5, 2011. Stars, hearts and children . . . I sat at my diminutive little office desk under the window in room 207 and cut out hearts and stars all afternoon. I took my single package of poster markers and outlined each shape in a different color after it was cut. This is how pathetic I am. I had to Google the shape of a star because I could not draw one. Ah . . . to be able to draw! Shine Brightly for Jesus, God Loves Me! The thunder shouted arrival almo...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: A glorious farewell party . . .
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/i-woke-up-this-morning-with-god-bless.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Sunday, December 11, 2011. A glorious farewell party . . . I woke up this morning with God Bless America playing in my mind. It was my morning’s first thought. I wonder if I’m ready to come home! It’s a water day! Cold and hot both! In the shower at 6 am, because now I know, if there’s water, take advantage of it! I was dressed and headed for breakfast at 7:30 which was great. That would leave me plenty of time to write a while before leaving for church. My walk to the ch...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: Happy Birthday, Harlan!
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/happy-birthday-harlan.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Happy Birthday, Harlan! I wonder if that’s a sign of something significant? My trek began down Bukerere Road in front of the hotel with my destination being the Jacktor Market. I was to meet Joseph there at 9:45 for our final errand running, photo developing and bank stop in Kampala. We got in a pretty good taxi and took our usual drive toward town. We did and what a great place! Pastor said, “See how Uganda is changing! While I had run back ...

The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011: Gideon's second note . . .
http://lrbnafrica2011.blogspot.com/2011/12/gideons-second-note.html
The Black Pearl and Blue - 2011. Monday, December 12, 2011. Gideon's second note . . . I am writing this letter to appreciate for the wonderful things you have done for me. I have met so many people in this hotel, but to find someone as you is too rare! You are kind, so caring and above all so loving! I must say you have got love for the people no matter who they are. Thank for introducing me to Pastor Joseph and my Brother Albert! But just because of you, all this has totally changed! To keep it warm.
