October 21, 2008. Last weekend we went to Lombongo- a city about 8 miles away from Gorontalo where we hiked to a waterfall. However, we were told this would be an "easy" hike, "maybe 20 minutes Ibu Jonna", said our guide.but it wasn't easy; not at all. Here is a picture of our hiking crew. This is a language exchange program Peter and I joined to learn Indonesian and help others learn English. We felt differently. :). This girl really liked Peter. :). The "universal Asian peace" sign:. June 28, 2009. It's no wonder people know more about Bali than the country it inhabits. It oozes culture on every cobble-stoned corner: women effortlessly carry baskets on trained heads, Hindu "god" offerings are scattered all over the streets, and traditional dances and songs are performed every night. The weather is also enjoyable - cool, crisp, and temperate - not like our loathed 95 degree Gorontalo days. Yes.we absolutely fell in LOVE with Bali! A little story from Peter about renting motorcycles.

January 22, 2009. We deeply apologize for the long delay.Things have been crazy since returning. Overall, Thailand was amazing. We weren't crazy about Bangkok- too many scam artists and old dirty men looking for young Thai women- but it still was awesome to spend New Year's in Bangkok. November 23, 2008. This Sunday we held a Thanksgiving feast at our American friend's house. I cooked mashed potatoes, and Peter made apple crisp. Our friend, Heather, made the stuffing, chicken (because there's no turkey in G-town :) and a corn dish. Overall it went over pretty well! The Indonesians liked the mashed potatoes and apple crisp the best :) . Peter and I fell in love. With this little Indonesian girl. Isn't she cute? We'll be going to the Togean. September 28, 2008. The three days before Idul. Which is the celebration held after Ramadhan. Or as Peter and I fondly call it, Tumble Toe (since we can't pronounce it properly). Tumble toe happens only in Gorontalo and is a pretty cool experience. The entire city and surrounding villages light "bottle lamps" that hang on wires in front of their houses. July 6, 2010. A new house for a new baby. Everything is so new our lives, Jonna keeps thinking something ELSE should be thrown into the mix, like a new wiener dog perhaps? Not quite yet. ;). We moved into our new home on June 1st and it has been an EXTREME MAKEOVER project ever since. We bought it knowing there'd be work, but nothing ever really prepares you for what's ahead.
