McCreevy answers for the past - Leinster Leader
https://www.leinsterleader.ie/news/mccreevy-answers-for-the-past-1-6865701
Ah go on, admit it, you missed him, didn’t you? Charlie McCreevy came out of the shadows and into the limelight for a little while in the banking inquiry. And it was vintage Charlie, with great one liners around every corner. McCreevy, and his supporters have their own narrative about where he fits into the Celtic Tiger and recession years. That is to say, he believes he played a role in the boom, but none in the bust. A bit of light touch regulation never hurt anybody. Brian Cowen was brought in to do B...

Anticipation the best part of debs’ delight - Leinster Leader

Anticipation the best part of debs’ delight. I saw the first busload of debs drive through town the other day. Chaps in penguin suits, girls decked out like junior Jenners, all looking fabulous and on their way to the ‘best night of their young lives’. But is it really? It brought me back to my own debs dance, some 20 gulp years ago this summer. And I can say without any reservation that, good and all as I presume the evening was, I actually remember very little of it. Not in the days of grunge. The one ...

Have I Lost the Plot. Diary of allotment holder Ciara Carrott. Sunday, May 31, 2009. Bean there done that! Broad beans: The broad beans are living up to their reputation as the hardiest of the legumes. They continue to shoot up and have plenty of green foliage. While they are said to be easy to grow and ideally suited to allotment growing it doesn't diminish the satisfaction for a novice allotment holder to see them thrive. Sunday, May 31, 2009. Above: our potato patch today! On allotment ground it is im...

I had a full body massage from John at Health Compass a few weeks ago. I've had quite a few massages over the last few years and I found this one to be one of the best. I felt totally relaxed and revived after the treatment and would highly recommend it. Since developing epilepsy 9 years ago I have been wary of doing a lot of the outdoor active sports I used to do. ( Caving, surfing, walking the hills, cycling the mountains and long open water swims). Get on with it! So at the end of the 4 weeks I can sa...
Juggernaut.: November 2005
http://d-funkt.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2005. Walking on Grafton street yesterday. A musical street at the best of times. A South Asian man walking beside me broke into song. I've no idea what the tune was about as he was singing in his native language,. But it was poppy and upbeat, his own soundtrack for his evening trek. I fell into step slightly ahead and to his right and let it become my soundtrack too. We travelled along for a while like this him unaware of my aural intrusion. All the while, loving his jingle.
