Wednesday, 22 September 2010. Day 16: Brora - John O' Groats (67 miles). We were very excited as today proved to be our last. I had light panniers and Sicknote had none. We knew that it was going to be a hard day, especially the first 30 miles. Ever since we embarked on this crazy journey, I have been warning about "Berriedale Braes". "Can't be that bad" "we'll see". Wednesday, 22 September 2010. Day 14: Fort William - Inverness (71miles). We got off to a great start today.downhill. We both then realised that we had worn our brakes down. We popped off to see Ben at Nevis Bikes (honest! So, he'd been cycling with his front brake on. But he never mentioned it once after that.EVERY 10 MINUTES! We did not have the correct-sized spanner, so we were lucky enough to meet Helen and her colleague in the Loch Ness Youth Hostel who had everything we needed. 180710 Charity Bike ...

Pippa Gerber offered us a place to stay the niight! She's part of a network called "Warm Showers" who help touring cyclists who need a bed and a shower for a night! We collapsed into our respective beds and had an early night. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 180710 Charity Bike Ride 4th September - wheneve. Day 1: And theyre off!

Tuesday, 7 September 2010. Day 4: Taunton-Bristol (65miles). So, weather is better (only way was up, really! And legs were pretty tired for all the boys. Cycled to Glastonbury for lunch where a kind chap called Ian donated as did an elderly couple (Mary and Barry Parfitt). Despite the strong pull of the "free Glastonbury soothsayer", we decided to push on to see our friends (Alex and Nadine with their new child, Jake - and Gunner! 8 September 2010 at 12:40. Wednesday, 15 September 2010. Day12: Cambuslang - Arrochar(45miles). So, after an evening of milking his "bad knee", Richard 'Sicknote' Frost decided to grace us with his not inconsiderable presence and we are heading back to Cambuslang to continue our epic journey. I will continue tonight (if 'Sicknote' can stop his whining for 5 minutes! On a positive note, after we escaped Glasgow and its smooth roads (check for dislodged fillings later! Beautiful scenery (although NOT 6 feet in front of me!

Pain Insensitivity

http://www.understandingalyssa.com/page1.html

The inability to feel pain; either in the entire body, or in part). Not being able to feel pain may initially sound like a good thing. Who. The answer is nobody. To feel pain is something that should not be taken lightly! Is a warning that something is wrong. Sometimes only found during other investigations*. Many sufferers can not sense temperature either, which puts them at a huge risk of burning. These are just some of the more common types of injuries sustained from not feeling pain; the list is exte...

George Walker, Alice Rolfe and Alex James do LEJOG. Just another WordPress.com site. Day 15 – Crask to John o’Groats. We only flippin finished didn’t we! We are now in our hostel after completing our 1007 mile bicycle ride! We left our hotel in the middle of nowhere at around 9. Today was 86 miles to the finish so we knew we had a biggy. We were joined by Les the Great and Matty the Adventurer and set off into a reasonable head wind. Were all feel a little loopy and it seems a bit surreal but its over!

LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS. On Saturday 22nd August 2009 4 friends from Exeter in Devon will attempt to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats. We aim to complete the challenge in 9 days. The total distance to be covered over the 9 days is 921 miles. We will have no back up support. We are staying in pre booked hotels and guest houses. It seemed like a good idea at the time discussing it over a few beers down the local pub one Saturday evening. HOW YOU CAN HELP. Create a free website.

LEJOG Cycle 2011

Tuesday, 16 August 2011. Jim H’s day 14 Lejog blog. Another stinky night on narrow bed, with a nasty duvet. I didn't care. It was our last day on the road and I.we all, couldn't wait to get the job done. No breakfast at this hostel so two power bars for me and I was on my way. Mmmmmmmmm. Some great views followed. I could just see some more North Sea oil rigs on the horizon from the cliff top. I thought about the poor sods working out there and it made the frequent hills more bearable. Over the course of...

Lands End to John o'Groats

Lands End to John o'Groats. Saturday, 23 June 2012. Day 15: Tongue to John OGroats. I made it. What an emotional journey. The day was always gonna be a long one in my mind. But as I started cycling I had the Final Countdown song in my head. I cycled into Thurso and met up with Rachel again in a small tea shop. I had a cup of tea and a cream bun. We packed the bike into the car and I put on clean clothes for the first time in weeks! Stay tuned for pictures and videos when I get home. Friday, 22 June 2012.

Monday, 4 July 2011. Day 10: Golspie to John O Groats. DT - Awesome end to the trip. Woke up feeling tired but my bike legs were back and we set off like the clappers. Although we were aware there were some hills today, we weren't quite expecting the amount of climbing we had today. Helmsdale in particular has a couple of very long 13pc climbs that go on for about 4 miles. The almost 50 mph descent was exhilarating though! Sunday, 3 July 2011. Day 9 Kingussie - Golspie. LEJOGGLER | Can they do it? YES THEY CAN!

Can they do it? And so that is it. Sam, Alex, Anouska, Emma, Dave M and Dave W have all successfully completed the challenge and cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats. After 13 days, 1000 miles, lots of sandwiches and even more beer they finally cycled into John O’Groats at 5.04pm on 6th August. I must confess that I had my doubts before they started that each and every single one of them would cycle each and every mile but they did – and I know I and many others are blown away by the achievement. The c...
