Horses, Friends and FUN! A simple little blog to help my aging brain remember all the places, people and fun I am having! Monday, April 8, 2013. About a month ago now, while in an East Coast town, we spotted this young horse being used as a taxi. We tracked down his owner and negotiated a price, and now "Cash" as we call him, lives here with us. He turned out to be a colt so a gelding was arranged while he stayed at Dean's for a few days, and eventually he made it home. He looks so much better now!

She seems to have the dreaded Trumpet Nose virus and has a snotty, swollen nose. Shawnee too has the snots but no swollen nose on her. We had this virus hear 2 yrs ago and it was ultimately what caused the throat collapse that Summer ended up with. We will be keeping a close eye on them of course but they seem ok. Would I not be happier doing something completely different? Hell, I don't even know what that might be. No, I want to regain those memories when everything felt achievable, but it makes me tired. We had a few days holidaying around the beautiful Easy Coast. Stunning place with some amazing friendly people. The Tolaga Bay Wharf is a must see for anyone doing this trip. There are prolific numbers of horses, all round remote area's of NZ. Wandering stock, are a real issue and have been known to cause a few accidents.

Sunday, January 30, 2011. Chris has been making the most of the long weekend to work on the tackroom and the stables/tie up area. He finished lining the tack room and partition walls. We are going to oil or varnish it to protect the plywood from damp horse gear before we attach the various racks, hooks and shelves to the walls. Friday, August 27, 2010. Finally today after more than 7 years at Acacia Crescent in Hamilton, we have moved to our new home in Cambridge. It was sad to leave Acacia Cres after such a long time in what was a great unit and great location but we knew we were moving to something better. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Let there be light! Today was a momentous occasion - the electrician finished wiring up the shed. We are now fully connected to the grid. Chris was having heart palpitaions adding up the wattage of all the lights but we'll worry about that when we get the first power bill. In the meantime: we have light! Stables and tack up area all lit up. Tie up/wash bay area and yet-to-be completed stables. Internal lights with outdoor power point under cover. Electric fence unit installed.

Tuesday, April 26, 2011. We had a big storm here today. It started with the rain about 3am, which turned into strong winds later in the morning. It got gradually worse during the day, and still hasn't eased off yet. The neighbours have lost nearly half their stand of gums and pines on our eastern boundary, with six of them crashing through our post and rail fence. Fence line before the storm. First tree to go through. One of many trees down. Splintered the fence like matchsticks. Tree numbers 4 and 5.

Saturday, February 11, 2012. Jeanette came over and helped me give Ciara a bath and take some photos. I have been considering selling her so we thought we'd give her a spruce up. She scrubs up so well that I'm having second thoughts! In these pictures she's 1 year and 2 months old. She's looking much more grown up that a few months ago. Tuesday, April 6, 2010. I have a new Horse! Welcome to Stonedale Magician a 5 yr old unbroken Welsh CobX by Millcreek Valiant out of TB mare Cautious Leigh. 15.2 ish. He was started about 14 months ago but then his owner and her husband took over a farm management job up North where there was lots of work and no time for horses. No flat land either so not conjucive to finishing a youngster. So Magic got left. Hes not coming for 2 weeks as he is being delivered in a truck so until then I have to wait!

Sunday, April 18, 2010. The Magic Pony has arrived. My new horse Stonedale Magician arrived yesterday while I was away at Nadines clinic. Today was first day of school including beautification. He has not had a lot of handling in the past 14 months so I just did some groundwork and then gave him a bath, trim, worm and covered him. Poor boy must wonder what has struck him. Tomorrow we will start on the lungeing again and hopefully it won't be too long before he can be backed. The Jokes on You says Henry.
