Life in the Languedoc

Life in the Languedoc. My wife says I had a mid-life crisis. She's always right. So, I ended up renovating an apartment in Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France and she still works in London, which isn't right, she says. I can't believe it is ten days since I last posted a blog, which means another ten days has gone by and it still feels as if there is tons of work to do. It seems as far away from being completed as it ever was. The other family event of the week was my youngest daughter...

Life in the Languedoc: Taking a break

http://www.lifeinthelanguedoc.blogspot.com/2007/05/taking-break.html

Life in the Languedoc. My wife says I had a mid-life crisis. She's always right. So, I ended up renovating an apartment in Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France and she still works in London, which isn't right, she says. Last week seemed to be really frustrating. It seemed as if progress was slow. It seemed as if the satisfaction of daily achievement had been replaced by a feeling of 'what have we done today? Mind you, the frustrations have carried on into the new week. As we came of...

Life in the Languedoc. My wife says I had a mid-life crisis. She's always right. So, I ended up renovating an apartment in Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France and she still works in London, which isn't right, she says. Cathar castles and Cup finals. No The fact is that because today was a Monday half of them weren't open anyway and the other half needed very little excuse to stay in bed. There are three bank holidays in three weeks here, all falling on Tuesdays or Thursdays, which ...

Life in the Languedoc. My wife says I had a mid-life crisis. She's always right. So, I ended up renovating an apartment in Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France and she still works in London, which isn't right, she says. Well, it seems, from the records I have seen, that there used to be a garden and a fountain. Sadly, the fountain has gone and I bet it now adorns somebody else's garden, looking hopelessy out of place and making it all look ridiculously over-fountained! Anyway, airport n...

Life in the Languedoc: A new me?

http://www.lifeinthelanguedoc.blogspot.com/2007/05/new-me.html

Life in the Languedoc. My wife says I had a mid-life crisis. She's always right. So, I ended up renovating an apartment in Carcassonne in the Languedoc region of southern France and she still works in London, which isn't right, she says. Oh dear. My brain has stopped working. I am suddenly struggling to post a blog. I have only posted two in May so far and the last one was ten days ago. 'Struggling', I hear you say - I know, I know - I am writing now but am I saying anything? View my complete profile.

Rebecca in the World: Spring Showers...April Snow brings May Sleet?

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2008/04/spring-showersapril-snow-brings-may.html

Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Spring Showers.April Snow brings May Sleet? There really is no such thing as "normal weather" anymore, is there? Natural phenomena aside, life also follows a less than "normal" path, for which I am continually grateful and thankful. Work continues at the travel store, where I am able to talk to people about traveling and often am invited to go along! The weather will hopefully grow warmer. In the meantime, I am taking off for San Diego for a few days to get some sun!

Rebecca in the World: Sunny Spring!!

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2008/04/sunny-spring.html

Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Travel. Yes. Like a rock star? This is new. I have a new friend, and my friend has a great job. The difficulty is that if I want to see this friend, I have to travel to where he is. So where is he? Last week, at the Hotel del Coronado near San Diego. Next week? As I was laying in the sun at the pool, getting a much-needed tan (which promptly faded after I showered! No Did it make me feel kind of superficial and unworthy of so much luxury? Yes Was I enjoying the hell out of it?

Rebecca in the World: Mexico / Resortland

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2008/05/mexico-resortland.html

Monday, May 26, 2008. I spent 16 days in fancy resorts in Mexico with my friend Ryan who is a private investigator of hospitality. While he worked, I tanned. It was an experience that was both exactly what I expected and completely surprising. I had anticipated being pampered and feeling strange about it, but I hadn't expected the level of luxury or the deep deep feelings that I would have. It was interesting to be there with Ryan, who is a wonderful person and friend with whom I share absolutely nothing...

Rebecca in the World: March 2007

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 16, 2007. February 24- March 13. Tuesday night I went out with the assistants, but I ended spending the whole evening drinking and playing darts with Jerome, Nico, Bob, and Benjamin. We had a great night! Friday night, I entered into a ridiculously profound philosophical conversation with my friend Gary. It made me happy, and feel like I haven't lost my edge! And plenty of wine. We continued with coffee, and I found myself with David and David, just talking until 6 in the evening. We had cr...

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 21, 2007. Posted by Rebecca Keegan. Links to this post. England, Ireland, France, Spain. London is Europe's biggest city, and nothing was open in the night. Arnaud left the next day, and I stayed in London for three more days, hanging out with my friends and having picnics. After a few days in England, I flew to Dublin to meet my mom. We spent two nights in Dublin, during which we tried to see and do everything, but alas, we didn't make it to the Guinness Factory! So, who's going back with me?

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 16, 2007. The question I pose tonight is not just the idle rambling of a homesick traveler.non! It the fact that the things I hold most dear and delightful about Portland (bikes, beer, and a weird yet comforting atmosphere) are to be found in every corner, street, and square of both Leipzig and Berlin. If not for the different language, I would feel very much at home here. And I was finally in the loving arms of my friend Jana. Tomorrow I leave to go to London to stay with Andrew and Alexis...

Rebecca in the World: September 2007

http://rebeccakeegan.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 21, 2007. This summer has included all it should- family, friends, food, roadtrips, romance. After returning from France, I embarked on a tour de force of family visits, including one very long week in Cleveland to see my grandpa. July was a whirlwind of seeing friends and making decisions. Then in August Arnaud came to America! We had the king of all roadtrips, covering virtually all of the west coast, and seeing almost everyone I know! See pictures on flickr! I hope you are all well!

Monday, June 25, 2007. I don't really know what to say, other than this has been an incredible and important experience and meaningful to me on so many levels. I will miss this town so much, my friends and community, my favorite cafes and bars, the view of la cite from le pont vieux, Arnaud's shy smile. Thank you for sharing in this adventure with me. Life in the Land of the Rising Sun

Thursday, July 18, 2013. As I walked home from work last week, I listened to my iPod on shuffle. An eclectic taste in music combined with a 60 gig listening device results in a musical cache almost too diverse and vast to navigate. When I find myself unable to make a musical choice to match my mood, I put the 8000 songs on shuffle. My iPod has been living on shuffle the past few weeks. I feel this is a musical manifestation of my emotions lately. On the other hand, I am feeling melancholy. The feeling I ...

Life in the Larger Household

Life in the Larger Household. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. 15 1/2 months old. We had a busy, fun filled summer! We spent lots of time at the park behind our house. We bought a zoo membership on Elliott's birthday so we spent time at the zoo this summer as well. He loved strolling around the zoo and looking at all of the animals. We even got to go to the Hilliard Pool a few afternoons. We spent almost every day at the beach. Elliott loved it! We just went to Elliott's 15 month well visit. Dr. Lisa...Milk,...
