8230;because life and running travel similar paths. Book Review – Idle Feet Do the Devil’s Work. What ultra-marathons have to do with life →. The Face of Commitment. April 21, 2015. In December 2011 I suffered an injury. That has since proven to be my toughest opponent; requiring physical and mental strength I had no idea I could muster. And like any journey, it’s had its share of successes, and setbacks… And the corresponding moodiness. 8220;No Whining, No Excuses! 8220;Suck it Up”. I rest my case.

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. Strength Stories – Tony / Endorphin Dude. November 21, 2013. To make matters worse, that sedentary life style lead to many other health problems. I was barely thirty years old and had to take meds for type two diabetes, cholesterol, and high blood pressure. In my mind, though, it was ok. I kept telling myself, “Why do I have to exercise and lose weight? Modern medicine has made it easy for the obese American! I also thought a 5k was a tax...

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. Baby Steps, But I’m Back! October 29, 2013. It’s been quite a while since I took my last steps at a “more than walking” pace. In fact, my last run was Double Dipsea, which could not have been more perfect. Beautiful place, charming people, and followed by an entire night of working at the Western States Endurance Run. I got a call about my MRI the other day and my ortho specialist was surprised to report that the break is, well…. No swell...

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. Monthly Archives: August 2014. 2014 Tahoe Rim Trail 100 Race Report. August 6, 2014. Soon, we all started the first 6 mile climb. A few began conserving immediately, but by and large we were too thrilled to finally be racing to think of walking. During this section I saw an incredible amount of friends! As we chugged along through the forest we could hear loud cracks. POP.POPPOP! Laura and I kept a good pace on our climb up to Bull Wheel,...

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. Monthly Archives: April 2014. American River 50 Mile Endurance Run 2014 Race Report. April 8, 2014. Hey guys, it’s been a while! The question was whether it would be ok for fifty miles. By the time the next aid station popped into view, I had decided two things:. 1) I wasn’t going to be able to eat much, so I’d rely heavily on Tailwind for calories. 2) Since I didn’t need to carry food, there was no need to carry a vest. 2014 Tahoe Rim Tr...

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. 65% Chance of Adventure. December 6, 2013. Happy Friday, folks! The hardest thing to get back is proving to be my lungs. My body clearly remembers how to manage energy over a long period, but I frequently feel like I’m sucking air through a wet ninja mask. Which of course I’m not. Really. If my name gets drawn tomorrow, first I’ll be all like. Then I’ll be all like. Then I’ll settle into a comfy. It’s only a slight chance, anyway:. You ar...

Who is this chick, anyway? Saturday, May 26, 2012. My first 100k - Born To Run Ultra Marathon. Mile 50 Heading out on my last loop. I'm surprised he caught me with half a smile on my face. The DNF Banner at the Born To Run Ultramarathon had all sorts of excuses. My favorite was "I'm just a Grade-A Pussy.". And "Puke. Puke. Puke." There were some hardcore runners out there. Some barely hanging by a thread in the middle of the night to finish 100 miles. Me with my ultra-running buds. Then after a couple mo...

A bit of rambling about instruments, art, beer, and trail running. Western States Endurance Run 2014 Lottery Drawing. December 9, 2013. We settled into a nice place close to the front and kept an eye out for people we knew. There were a ton. It seemed every other person who walked past stopped to say hi and catch up. It was awesome to feel so entrenched in the local trail running community. It is one which is unabashedly friendly, unrelentingly hopeful, and soaked with ibuprofen. There were several guest...

I do miss running, but I know it will be there whenever I can return. The thing I miss the most is running. Anyway, it’s a temporary condition and not the purpose of this blog, so let me redirect! Life Is But A Adventure..
Life is but a Adventure. Saturday, December 28, 2013. I recently received a email from Rachel MacDonald. Titled "If you want to set yourself up for an incredible 2014.". It came when I was in the middle if writing out my new years goals. :D. And it inspired me to share rituals I end the year and prepare for the new year ahead! A good way to start is getting rid of the negative. Write down everything that is holding you back, made you upset, and even things you beat yourself up over! Stop all of that!
