MouseSqueaks: September 2011
http://lindateitel.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Small sounds in a great big world. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. My travels this past weekend took me to the Salem Literary Festival, which celebrates "the art, beauty, and business of writing." The artistic community in Salem is thriving, so it was wonderful to see such a great turnout. Salem's (silly) 'Bewitched' Statue. A relative, perhaps? Monday, September 26, 2011. IndieBound: One Little Step At A Time. I'm slowly learning how to blog, and it's actually more fun than I thought it would be! I finis...
MouseSqueaks: August 2011
http://lindateitel.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Small sounds in a great big world. Sunday, August 28, 2011. Read, Read, Read! Last night I was reading a writer's magazine that my friend, Nan, gave me. In a piece called "Top Ten Pieces of Writing Advice I've Been Given," Sherman Alexie says to "Read 1000 pages for every one you try to write." That is such great advice–– and I hear it all the time at writers' conferences. Read, read, read! I like to re-read the classics from time to time just to soak up all that wonderful language. Julie told us some fa...

http://lindateitel.blogspot.com/2012/04/tea-time.html
Small sounds in a great big world. Monday, April 2, 2012. If you know me, you know I love tea. And I love tea sandwiches. and, of course, I love dessert! So, I was in heaven recently when I was invited to a lovely tea party by some equally lovely friends. I just have to share this picture. The table looked so pretty! Thank God for tea! What would the world do without tea? How did it exist? I am glad that I was not born before tea! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). North Shore, Massachusetts.
MouseSqueaks: March 2012
http://lindateitel.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Small sounds in a great big world. Monday, March 26, 2012. It's been just about a year since the world lost a truly lovely person and a very talented writer and illustrator–– and I lost a dear friend and mentor. Almost everything I know about picture books I learned from Ellen. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, she was the illustrator of about twenty-four books, and she wrote several of them as well. She collaborated with her mother, a teacher, on one of her classics,. I miss you, Ellen. Beaut...

Small sounds in a great big world. Sunday, January 22, 2012. Spotlight On My Favorite Local Book Shop. The wonderful book blog, She Is Too Fond Of Books. Has recently posted my essay on The Book Shop. In Beverly Farms. It's a fabulous little shop and everyone there is very friendly and helpful. It seems that even the big bookstores are struggling these days, so it is more important than ever that we do everything we can to support our local independent book shops. Small is beautiful! I drove another coup...

What do you need to be a better writer? What do you need to be a better writer? February 15, 2012. The thick dictionary I keep near my desk (The American Heritage 3rd ed. black covers, gold writing, hefty) defines a group as: An assemblage of persons or objects gathered together or located together; an aggregation. Another definition is: A number of individuals or things considered together because of similarities. Want to know what you should do to get your book published traditionally or indie? Writes ...

Small sounds in a great big world. Saturday, May 5, 2012. Recently, Angus MacMouse grabbed his baton, donned his tuxedo, and came with me to Lynn, Massachusetts, where we met some amazing children at an after school reading and literacy enrichment program called CLASS (Centerboard Literacy and Scholastic Support). The children had been reading Angus MacMouse Brings Down the House. And the program director asked me to come and visit. Monday, April 2, 2012. Thank God for tea! How did it exist? It's been ju...
