Something Different… | Fellrunning Northerner

The Trials and Tribulations of a Northern Fellrunner. 2016 so far…. →. May 28, 2015. Had a blast tonight at the Ingleton Scenery Race. Just over 4 miles around the Ingleton waterfalls walk. Superbly organised by KCAC as per usual and at 3 you simply can’t go wrong. Wasn’t about times for me tonight as this marked six days consecutive running and the legs are starting to feel a little weary! Ingleton Scenery – Credit James Williamson. the view from the middle of the pack | "the hopelessness of the long distance runner" | Page 2
https://craigw2504.wordpress.com/page/2
The view from the middle of the pack. The hopelessness of the long distance runner. Voted one of the top 5 most scenic half marathons in the UK by Runners World and with a start and finish in the shadows of the majestic Conwy Castle it was certainly one I was looking forward to. I decided to make a weekend of it in Llandudno and was joined by my eldest boy Thomas, Mum and Dad while my poor, exhausted wife had to stay home and look after my youngest son Aaron (Llandudno isn’t ready for him yet! The field ...

Aching Limbs and Tonsillitis | the view from the middle of the pack

The view from the middle of the pack. The hopelessness of the long distance runner. Aching Limbs and Tonsillitis. Well apparently, very is the answer. To my own amazement given my usual blasé attitude to injury prevention, I decided that the only way that I would recover would be to take a week off. Following the Dave Clarke 5k on August 22nd the plan of action was that I would hang up my running shoes and take that week off to get my mojo back. Afterwards it took me ages to stop sweating (virus alert!

Fan Dance Race – Pen y Fan | the view from the middle of the pack
https://craigw2504.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/fan-dance-race-pen-y-fan
The view from the middle of the pack. The hopelessness of the long distance runner. Fan Dance Race – Pen y Fan. It’s been a while since my last post. There’s no real reason for this other than the fact that I couldn’t really be bothered to write. I’d settled into a nice routine of training and didn’t feel that I had much to say. Start Line (obviously not the same day! 8211; Old Red Phone Box, Storey Arms. The Ascent of Pen-y-Fan as seen from Cribyn. I ‘staggered’ back down to the Storey Arms ...As soon a...

Fantastic hills and how to beat them – runslikeadog
https://runslikeadog.wordpress.com/2015/07/17/fantastic-hill-and-how-to-beat-them
Goals ‘n’ drewms. Fantastic hills and how to beat them. July 17, 2015. July 17, 2015. In October, I’m running the Snowdon. Marathon. It’s quite hilly, or so I’ve heard. I’m now into week 3 of the best way to train for a marathon the Hanson Marathon Method. For those of you not in the know, Hansons is the greatest marathon plan on earth and made me run my 3 hours 30 goal at London. Here are my top tips for hilly running, I hope they help! Think how strong they’re becoming in the process of doing this hill...

Stafford Half Marathon | the view from the middle of the pack
https://craigw2504.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/stafford-half-marathon
The view from the middle of the pack. The hopelessness of the long distance runner. Sometimes when you don’t feel particularly ‘up for it’ you can amaze yourself with a best ever effort. Fortunately that’s what happened on Sunday at the Stafford Half, resulting in a near 3 minute personal best over the distance of 1:33:08. Happy days 🙂. And they pulled me through with no adverse drop in pace. The support was great and to be honest I enjoyed the race that much it sort of passed me by in a blur and before...

Goals ‘n’ drewms. August 11, 2015. After all the talk, I’m in. I’ve signed up to do the full 3.8km swim, 180.2km bike and 42.2km run an ironman. I’ll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life on the 10th July 2016, which gives me 336 days to prepare. I am going to be doing The Bastion, run by The… Continue reading The Bastion: 2016. Goals ‘n’ drewms. How to be an ironman: 8 weeks to go! May 16, 2016. Eight weeks. Eight. EIGHT! That’s not very long really, is it? But that’s all I have left to train for this race I’ve signed myself up to. The hours per week of training keep going up and up, and I seem to be spending more and more time in the shower and/or eating. I’m still,… Continue reading How to be an ironman: 8 weeks to go!
