Day's Class Notes: A Dozen Ideas for the Classroom, and I Found Them All on Pinterest
http://daysclassnotes.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-dozen-ideas-for-classroom-and-i-found.html
Saturday, August 11, 2012. A Dozen Ideas for the Classroom, and I Found Them All on Pinterest. School begins on August 22nd, so I've been working in my classroom for a couple days each week. I like to work on projects at home and then go to school just long enough to install them. On Etsy. Or this one. Where you could download a PDF and print yourself. But none of them quite met my needs. Instead, I used the computer, scrapbook paper, and a poster frame to come up with my Classroom Rules. I also created ...

Forever in First: February 2015
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 28, 2015. Saturday Sayings: It's Smart. Do I make it smart to ask questions? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Last week I was reading a picture book about George Washington. I asked the kids to show me one finger if they understood the text and two if they didn't. If I spotted two fingers, I stopped and let that person ask their question. "It's so smart of you to know when you don't understand something.". Links to this post. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. Disclaimer: Many kids end up bein...

Forever in First: July Reads
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2015/08/july-reads.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. My summer reading slowed down a bit in July. Here you go. This one was so-so for me. This book surprised me. I had no idea it was a graphic novel. I really enjoyed this read. There's speculation that there might have been a woman pope back in the day. This is a helpful read for those looking to know more about guided math. This book was great. I feel like I can use literature in a more authentic mathematical way now. I really didn't like this book. Sorry. August 2, 2015 at 7:39 PM.

Forever in First: September 2014
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. I typically do a terrible job of reading as much as I'd like once school starts. I've been determined to fix that. So far, so good. Here are my September reads. I'd highly recommend many of these, so do check them out or put them on your list when you can track down some extra reading time. This one is kind of magical and kept me wondering to the very end. This was one of my favorites of the month. It's so very clever. Links to this post. Saturday, September 27, 2014. I have ...

Forever in First: Teacher!
http://foreverin1st.blogspot.com/2015/08/teacher.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. It seems there are a million things I need to say on the first day of school, but I save only the most important for day one, knowing I'll get to the rest as soon as I can. For sure though, my kids will get the my-name-isn't-teacher talk. Granted, this isn't a life or death issue, but learning names is a life skill. And seriously, no matter how young, I think students should be expected to use their teacher's name. Hearing the word "Teacher! PS Anyone else annoyed by this?

http://mrssimpsonskindergarten.blogspot.com/2012/01/fresh-new-start.html
January 20, 2012. A Fresh New Start. We have been so busy! Guided reading groups are going strong, and centers have never been so organized and easy for the children to manipulate thanks to Julie Lee. I absolutely love her center activities and I can't wait for the new ones. We are learning about dinosaurs next week. I will be posting pictures of our dinosaur eggs and other projects very soon! Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Thanks for sharing all your great ideas as well! I have thought of you!
