I finished off the hull, all bar the anti-fouling, by painting the boot top a dark blue and putting in the line on what I think they call the ‘sheer’. The hull, finished apart from anti-fouling. More Re-fitting takes place…………. Who am I………………. Sailing blog site – Tengeru. I decided I would Re-fit my new boat……………………………. This is where I started. Tengeru had previously been painted black. Not a good colour for a cruising boat, methinks! I decided that since she was verging on becoming a classic, having been built in 1970 – 44 years ago – I would change the colour and chose a slightly off-white colour, Ivory. This is ‘Freyja’, my 28ft banana, not long after arriving at Southsea Marina, in April 2012. She is an Atlanta 8.5, built by Atlanta Marine, in Fareham, in 1977. Designed by the same guy who designed MacWesters, C.J.Roy, she has similiar lines to MacWesters, of course. She is a bilge keeler, with a 4ft draft. So, what to do? What did I learn, that day?

You might remember that Tengeru’s engine was in need of some TLC. It had been lifted out of the boat and, looking like a piece of scrap metal, was put to one side, in the boat yard.
